He observes the faculties of those who wish to attain. Then, after examining their faculties, with the power of knowing various inclinations, he observes their thoughts. Then, with the power of knowing various realms, he observes their latent tendencies. Having thus known their faculties, thoughts, and latent tendencies, with the power of knowing the path to all destinations, he guides them appropriately to their objects and liberates them through the gate of liberation. Then, with the power of recollecting past lives and the power of knowing death and rebirth, he closely combines the object and the gate of liberation, stabilizing their minds and purifying their conduct, thereby abandoning the root of the view of the aggregates and the two extremes of eternalism and nihilism, and correctly showing the Middle Way. Then, after that, with the power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements, they enter correctly in this way and become stable through quiescence. For those who have not abandoned the latent tendencies of afflictions, merely being separated from manifestation, without having done anything, yet as if having done something, thereby generating manifest pride, he causes them to abandon manifest pride. This is also a gradual process through momentary power. So, what is the difference between the power of knowing what is and is not possible and the power of knowing one's own karma? It is said: With the power of knowing what is and is not possible, he understands that virtuous and non-virtuous actions will produce desirable and undesirable results. And with the power of knowing one's own karma, he understands that whoever has done virtuous and non-virtuous actions, they themselves will experience desirable and undesirable results, that is the difference. So, with the power of knowing one's own karma, he understands that through meditation, liberation, samadhi, and whatever absorption they enter, they themselves will attain these. And with the power of entering meditation, liberation, and samadhi, he will rely on these such as meditation, and for those who are to be tamed, he will demonstrate through the three kinds of miracles. Then, with the power of entering meditation, liberation, and samadhi, he will demonstrate including faith and so on.

He also knows their minds in general. With the power of knowing superior and inferior faculties, he can distinguish the nature of their faith and so forth as small, medium, and large. Among them, with the power of knowing superior and inferior faculties, he also knows what kind of Dharma they have contemplated in their previous lives and how they have engaged in contemplation. With the power of knowing various aspirations, he can also distinguish these contemplations, knowing "This is a contemplation with desire, this is a contemplation with hatred," thus distinguishing the contemplation itself in various ways. In short, these contemplations can be summarized into six types: non-liberating contemplation, liberating contemplation, extremely distant pure contemplation, contemplation close to purity, contemplation that desires to attain Nirvana in this very life, and contemplation that desires to attain Nirvana in the future. Among them, non-liberating contemplation refers to the contemplation of those who believe in the teachings of Ishvara, Brahma, and so on. Liberating contemplation refers to the contemplation of those who believe in the three vehicles. Extremely distant pure contemplation refers to those who abide in small and medium roots of virtue and generosity. Contemplation close to purity refers to those who abide in great roots of virtue. Contemplation that desires to attain Nirvana in this very life refers to the noble Shravakas and so on. Contemplation that desires to attain Nirvana in the future refers to the Tathagatas. Among them, with the wisdom of knowing various aspirations, he only comprehends the seed that arises from the cause of aspiration. With the wisdom of knowing various realms, he can distinguish these seeds and thus know various forms. If these realms are distinguished, there are four types in total: the seed that abides in its own nature, the seed that arises from habituation, the seed that can be purified, and the seed that cannot be purified. Among them, the seed that abides in its own nature refers to the lineage nature of the three vehicles that has existed since beginningless samsara. The seed that arises from habituation refers to the accumulation of seeds that have matured into lineage through habituating roots of virtue.
