When focusing on the passing away of breath, a long inhalation is also a long inhalation. This is called knowing exactly as it is. When a yogi exhales, starting from the navel and stopping between the chest, focusing on this, a short exhalation is also a short exhalation, this is called knowing exactly as it is. When a yogi inhales, also focusing on the breath stopping from the nostrils to the throat etc., this is called focusing on a short exhalation. When a yogi focuses on the coarse breath exiting and entering the pores, truly knowing each part of the body, the breath exiting and entering, this is called knowing exactly as it is. When a yogi focuses on inhaling from the coarse breath exiting and entering the pores, truly knowing each part of the body, the breath inhaling, this is called knowing exactly as it is. In reality, starting from the navel, focusing on how the breath exhales from the intestines, colon, and stomach etc., this is called truly knowing each part of the body, the breath exhaling. When focusing on how the breath flows downwards from the nostrils through the throat etc., entering the intestines and colon etc., this is called truly knowing each part of the body, the breath inhaling. This is called the fourth. When a yogi knows that this breath exiting and entering is also a bodily fabrication, relying on the body, staying in the body, and focuses on how the breath relies on the body to exit and enter, this is called truly knowing each part of the body's consciousness, the breath exiting and entering. When a yogi knows that this breath inhaling is also a bodily fabrication, relying on the body, relying on the body to inhale, and focuses on how the breath relies on the body to inhale, this is called truly knowing each part of the body's fabrication, the breath inhaling.

It is called knowing well as it is. This is the fifth. When the yogi focuses on how the breath comes out from the fine seams and holes such as hair and body hair pores, then, knowing each part of the body separately, the breath is exhaled, knowing each part of the body separately, the breath is exhaled, it is knowing well as it is. When the yogi focuses on how the breath enters from the holes and fine seams such as body hair, then, knowing each part of the body separately, the breath is inhaled, knowing each part of the body separately, the breath is inhaled, it is called knowing well as it is. This is the sixth. The yogi's exhalation also stops, and the intermediate breath also stops, focusing on the empty space where other exhalations and inhalations have not arisen, and when he understands it, the actions of my body are very purified in exhaling, it is called knowing well as it is that the actions of my body are very purified in exhaling, very purified refers to the place and time of separation from exhalation. When the yogi's inhalation also stops, and the intermediate breath also stops, focusing on the empty space where other exhalations and inhalations have not arisen, the actions of my body are very purified in inhaling, the actions of my body are very purified. It is called knowing well as it is, this is the seventh. Or, the meaning of very purified is knowing by making the body and mind workable by focusing on exhaling and inhaling. Or, because of what he said above, the reliance on focusing on those exhalations and inhalations is more, meditation is more, doing more and possessing, when not familiar before, when focusing on exhalation and inhalation, the mind becomes tired, focusing like suffering, and the exhalation and inhalation also stop after arising coarsely and heavily, separated from this, through the power of becoming accustomed to it, the breath also flows subtly, and the mind focusing on it also focuses without fatigue accompanied by the touch of ease.

arose. Therefore, (the Buddha) said, "My body's activities are very purified as I exhale," and so on. If that yogi, through the power of thoroughly combining the mindfulness of exhaling and inhaling, attains the first dhyana or the second dhyana, then how does one know that the first and second dhyanas are attained through the cause of focusing on exhaling and inhaling? From "knowing joy as I exhale" to "knowing joy as I inhale," knowing completely and truly as it is, this is called the eighth. If he experiences the bliss of the third dhyana, which is free from joy, then from "knowing bliss as I exhale" to "knowing bliss as I inhale," knowing completely and truly as it is, this is called the ninth. Since the fourth dhyana and above are free from eight faults, mindfulness is not combined with exhaling and inhaling from the fourth dhyana onwards. If that yogi attains the fundamental first, second, or third dhyana, then he will definitely attain it, it is impossible not to attain it, and he will attain the preliminary concentration of the first dhyana. Relying on those concentrations, he will fully understand what arises in his own mind and how it arises, that is, with or without desire, with or without hatred, with or without delusion, collected or scattered, sunk or not uplifted, agitated or not agitated, peaceful or not peaceful, in samadhi or not in samadhi, well cultivated or not well cultivated, liberated or not liberated, knowing completely and truly as it is. When focusing on exhaling and inhaling, knowing how the nature of the mind arises, that is, from "knowing the mind as I exhale" to "knowing the mind as I inhale," knowing completely and truly as it is, this is called the tenth.
