Diligence, effort, and joy are the aspects of insight. Among them, that which is extremely refined, meditative concentration, and equanimity, these three enlightenment factors are the aspects of calm abiding. Mindfulness is the aspect of both, and is called universally present. The objects, nature, companions, practice, and the fruit of practice of the enlightenment factors are classified into five aspects. Among them, the object of the enlightenment factors is the four noble truths, because in the path of seeing, one knows and focuses on the four truths as they truly are. The nature is mindfulness, discrimination of dharma, diligence, joy, tranquility, and equanimity. Companions are the mind and mental factors that are associated with these enlightenment factors, such as faith and other similar qualities. Practice is the cultivation of mindfulness as an enlightenment factor, that is, dwelling in solitude, dwelling in detachment from desire, dwelling in cessation, dedicated to complete abandonment, called practice, and so forth, thus the practice of the four noble truths is taught. The fruit of practice is the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing. After explaining the seven factors of enlightenment, the eightfold path is explained. Therefore, intending to explain as it was taught, it was said, "Monks, what are the eight noble path factors?" and so on. Among them, "noble" refers to the individuals who are still learning, such as those who have attained the fruit of stream-entry, because through their practice they abandon all the afflictions that are to be abandoned, and in order to realize liberation, they possess eight branches, and because it is a path that is encompassed by eight branches, it is called the path of the eight noble path factors. For example, what is called right view is that in the context of the seven factors of enlightenment, one has attained the understanding of the four noble truths, and focusing on that, is right view. Taking that right view as primary, to properly contemplate the phenomena that will arise, abandoning thoughts of desire, hatred, and harm, and contemplating without desire, without hatred, and without harm, is.

It is called right thought. If a thought wants to enter the mind, it should also contemplate such a form of Dharma. If one wants the mind to enter a liar, one should manifest the true view, and then tell others about the Dharma of contemplating virtue. This is called right speech. If one needs robes, alms, bedding, cushions, and medicine for healing, then when searching, one should act with mindfulness when walking and returning, watching, examining, stretching, contracting, robes, holding bowls, eating and drinking, walking and sitting, sleeping, etc. This is called right livelihood. When searching for robes and medicine for healing, one should also abandon searching with flattery and deception, and search according to the Dharma. This is called right livelihood. Relying on right view, right thought, right speech, right livelihood, and right livelihood, when entering meditation, one should practice continuously with faith, diligence, and effort, and thus enter the abandonment of afflictions that should be abandoned. This is right effort. Relying on the four mindfulnesses, the nature of clarifying things by gathering them without inversion is called right mindfulness. The nine ways of abiding in the mind are called right concentration. These eight limbs of the Noble Path can be summarized into two types: what to do when acting and what to do when dwelling. When acting, other than meditating on samadhi, other actions such as walking and sitting are in the moment of action. At that time, one should abide in right speech, right livelihood, and right livelihood. The so-called dwelling is the time when entering samadhi. At that time, one should practice both shamatha (calm abiding) and vipassana (insight). Among them, right view, right thought, and right effort are the aspect of vipassana (insight) and its retinue, and right view is the

It is seeing itself. Right effort and thought are its retinue. Right mindfulness and right concentration are the retinue and surrounding of calm abiding. Right concentration is the very door of calm abiding. Mindfulness belongs to its retinue. Thus, by meditating, all the latent tendencies to be abandoned are abandoned, and for the sake of directly realizing the supreme fruit of the Arhat, learners rely on right speech, right action, and pure livelihood, and meditate on calm abiding and insight from time to time. Alternatively, the absence of unknowing, doubting knowledge, and wrong knowledge is right view. Among these, unknowing is not understanding the nature of the four noble truths. Doubting knowledge is doubting whether the four noble truths are true or not. Wrong knowledge is clinging to impermanence as permanence, etc., in a reversed manner. What is called right thought is called samyak saṃkalpa (Sanskrit: सम्यक्संकल्प) in Indian language. Samyak (Sanskrit: सम्यक) means not reversed. Sam (Sanskrit: सम्) means together. Kalpa (Sanskrit: कल्प) means following thought. To follow thought in accordance with the nature of emptiness and impermanence of all phenomena without reversing the Dharma seen by right view is right thought. Abandoning the four faults such as lying is right speech. Abstaining from the three evil deeds of the body such as killing is right action. Not living by sinful unwholesomeness is right livelihood. Lay practitioners, such as lay devotees, also turn away from selling poison and weapons, etc. Those who have renounced also turn away from flattery and pretense, etc. Abandoning sinful unwholesome dharmas and striving to accomplish virtuous dharmas, neither too intense nor too lax, but striving equally is right effort. When the mind becomes clear and is not confused about the object to be focused on, it is right mindfulness. The mindfulness of six causes arises. The six causes are the seeing of mindfulness, dissimilarity, familiarity, understanding as one meaning, the power of calm abiding, and the power of the cause. This
