Therefore, the precepts will be broken. How does one hold wrong views? Some people have wrong views and regret things that should not be regretted. Because regret hinders virtuous deeds, the precepts will also be broken. How are they controlled by carelessness and laziness? Some people do not vow not to make mistakes from the beginning, and even if they make mistakes, they do not remedy them according to the Dharma. By indulging in the pleasures of sleeping, sexual activity, and sleep, the precepts will also be broken. How does one make wrong aspirations? Some people hope to become gods or other deities, or to gain wealth or be respected, through precepts, asceticism, or austerities. Such wrong aspirations will not become the cause of liberation, so the precepts will also be broken. How does one behave improperly? Some people behave improperly in walking, sitting, lying down, etc., and behave casually in villages and other places, disregarding immediate affairs and virtuous deeds, which is inconsistent with the world, contrary to the world, inconsistent with the Vinaya, and contrary to the Vinaya, so the precepts will also be broken. How does one's livelihood become corrupted? Some people are not content, have many desires, are difficult to satisfy, and difficult to fill. By seeking alms bowls and robes in improper ways, the precepts will also be broken. How does one fall into two extremes? Some people are too attached to the pleasure of desire and indulge in the Dharma of desire. Some people live on thorns, or live in ashes, etc., engaging in unbearable asceticism and actions not permitted by the Dharma Vinaya, so the precepts will also be broken. How does one fail to act? Some people arrogantly believe that precepts, asceticism, or views themselves can bring liberation. Because this wrong view will not become the cause of liberation, the precepts will also be broken. How does one's vow become broken? Some people are completely shameless and do not hesitate to do evil and unwholesome deeds. The precepts are broken,

The nature of ignorance, the rottenness within, following the donkey, claiming to be a renunciate when not. The decline of higher mind refers to the loss of the first and second dhyanas, and so on. The causes of this decline are: excessive attachment to requisites such as robes and begging bowls, frequent illness of the body, craving for food, delighting in dwelling amidst much commotion, enjoying worldly affairs, fondness for excessive talk, and delighting in sleep and sexual activity, among others. The decline of higher wisdom is the perversion of views, such as clinging to the impermanent as permanent, and so on. The causes of this decline are: reliance on unwholesome friends, hearing non-virtuous teachings, and improperly attending to the existence of self and agent, and so on. These dharmas not being manifest is what is unborn. To vow and strive from the beginning not to let any unborn unwholesome dharma arise in the mind is called generating aspiration. Effort and diligence, and so on, will be explained later because the two right abandonments need to be combined with meaning. In order to explain the two right abandonments, it is said, "In order to abandon arisen sinful unwholesome dharmas," and so on. Sinful unwholesome dharmas are the previously mentioned body, speech, and mind of the desire realm and the ten unwholesome actions, or the dharmas that cause the decline of the three trainings. These dharmas becoming manifest in the mind and constantly active in the mind is the arising of unwholesome dharmas. Whatever sinful unwholesome dharmas arise in the mind, one should not let them remain in the mind, not let them abide in the mind, and should completely abandon them. Generating such an intention is called generating speech. These sinful unwholesome dharmas also arise in dependence on past objects, in dependence on future objects, and in dependence on present objects. Therefore, in short, they can be divided into two types: arising in dependence on hidden objects and arising in dependence on manifest objects. Among them, arising in dependence on past objects...
