To recognize. And recognize that the first dhyana has the characteristic of tranquility. So, how to recognize the coarse characteristics? It is to discern and seek the desires of the desire realm into six things. These six things are: meaning, thing, characteristic, direction, time, and knowledge. So, how to seek and discern the meaning of knowledge? For example, these desires are accompanied by the object of fault, with many harms, many diseases, many discomforts, etc. Seeking in this way is seeking the meaning of knowledge. So, seeking things refers to the fact that there are two kinds of desire things, namely internal and external. So, seeking internal desire things refers to: when attachment arises to one's own body, and when the mind of desire and greed arises, then discern and say, attachment has arisen to the body, and the mind of desire and greed has arisen. If seeking external things, then, when the mind is invested in the objects of desire such as form and sound, then seek and say that the mind has been invested in those objects. There are also two kinds of characteristics, namely seeking one's own characteristics and seeking common characteristics. Seeking one's own characteristics, there are also two kinds of desires' own characteristics, namely the desire of the characteristic of affliction and the desire of the characteristic of things. The desire of the characteristic of affliction refers to the arising of the mind of greed. The desire of the characteristic of things refers to external objects such as women. These two desires will also become places of feeling pleasure, places of suffering, and places of neither pleasure nor suffering. When it becomes a place of feeling pleasure, it becomes the basis for the arising of greed, and it becomes the place of taking discomfort as pleasure, and taking it upside down. When it becomes a place of feeling suffering, it becomes the place of arising of hatred, and the place of anger and strife. When it becomes the basis for the arising of neither pleasure nor suffering, it becomes the place of arising of ignorance, deceit, hypocrisy, shamelessness, and impudence, these desires always
