The arising of wisdom that knows only illusion is the attainment of appearance. The arising of wisdom that is not merely illusory in the objects of meaning expressed by those names is the increase of appearance. The arising of wisdom that knows that the names of all dharmas are emptiness is being one-sided towards the meaning of suchness. The arising of excellent wisdom that knows that all the dharmas of meaning expressed by those names are emptiness is immediately suppressing the first ground, called uninterrupted samadhi. What are the four parts of a Hearer? Namely, warmth, summit, forbearance, and the supreme mundane dharma. The four parts are the same as before, in the stage of faculties and powers, one is devoted to and desires virtue. For example, when fire is produced by rubbing wood, like the warmth that is a precursor to fire, the wisdom that burns afflictions arises like fire, hence it is called warmth. Then, the power of the roots of virtue on the side of the antidote increases, and one reaches the stage of not being turned by opposing factors, hence it is called summit. When one has faith in the meaning of selflessness of persons, emptiness, and joy arises in that, it is called forbearance. From this point on, it is mundane virtue, although the afflictions of seeing and meditation have not been abandoned, the stream-enterer and others are suppressed by this noble ground, and because it is superior to other mundane beings, it is called the supreme mundane dharma. What are the four wisdoms? Namely, mirror-like wisdom, the wisdom of equality, discriminating wisdom, and accomplishing wisdom. The complete purity of the sphere of reality is also in order. Transforming from an ordinary being into a Buddha, the transformation of the eight consciousnesses is the four wisdoms. Among them, the Alaya consciousness is purified, and its transformation is mirror-like wisdom. The defilement of the afflicted mind clinging to self is purified, and its transformation is not distinguishing self and other, because of equality, it is the wisdom of equality. The defilement of desire and so on of the mind consciousness is purified, and its transformation is discriminating wisdom. The defilement of the five sense consciousnesses, such as the eye, discriminating various dharmas is purified, and its transformation is

It is the wisdom of accomplishing activities. The emptiness of the nature of the five aggregates, such as the aggregate of form, is the complete purity of the Dharmadhatu. It is established as the object of supreme wisdom. What are the functions of the four wisdoms? The function of mirror-like wisdom, the function of equality wisdom, the function of discriminating wisdom, and the function of accomplishing activities. Entering into different objects and focusing on them is the function of wisdom. That is, focusing on the emptiness of the Dharmadhatu, which is the meaning of all phenomena being non-dual, is the function of mirror-like wisdom. There is no distinction between self and other. Doing what is beneficial for oneself is also beneficial for sentient beings, and doing what is beneficial for sentient beings is also beneficial for oneself. Focusing on this is the function of equality wisdom. To accurately and unerringly determine the general and specific characteristics of all phenomena is the function of discriminating wisdom. Accomplishing all activities for the benefit of sentient beings through various means and performing the activities of emanation is the function of accomplishing activities. What are the four intentions? The intention of equality, the intention of other times, the intention of other meanings, and the intention of individuals. Although the immediate understanding and the ultimate combination are different, they are shown without contradiction in one sentence. Taming sentient beings through such means is called the four intentions. That is, the past Buddhas and Shakyamuni Buddha, in terms of Dharmakaya, the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and the activities of benefiting sentient beings, are not different in greatness. Therefore, Shakyamuni Buddha said, "The past Buddhas were also me." This is the intention of equality. Saying that merely reciting the name of just one Buddha, such as Amitabha Buddha and Avalokiteshvara, will lead to enlightenment does not mean immediate enlightenment. Rather, relying on this cause, if one practices diligently, one will attain enlightenment sometime in the future, and making aspirations will also be the same. It does not transform immediately, but will become a cause at some time, so it is the intention of other times. If one does not pay homage to as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, one will not hear this sutra.
