Some are devoted to the Lesser Vehicle, some to generosity, some to discipline, and some to meditation, knowing all the differences in devotion to various dharmas. The power of knowing various realms is the understanding of realms, lineages, and meanings, such as the three types of lineages of the Great and Lesser Vehicles, the uncertain lineage, and the lineage-less, which are divided into five categories according to the differences in capacity and habitual tendencies. Skillfulness in this is called the power of knowing various realms. The power of knowing all paths is knowing the five paths of cyclic existence, wandering in all three realms, or being skilled in the aim of attaining heaven and liberation by abiding on which path. The power of knowing the recollection of past lives is being skilled in reasoning about "In my previous life, I lived in such and such a place, my name was so and so, my parents were such and such, I did such and such deeds, my lifespan was so long, and I enjoyed such and such experiences." The power of knowing death and rebirth is being skilled in knowing the times of "These beings die from here and are reborn there, and from there they die and are reborn here, and then they are reborn here." The power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements is being skilled in distinguishing the differences of "These beings have exhausted their defilements, such as afflictions, and these beings have exhausted their defilements," these are the ten powers. The four fearlessnesses of the Tathagata are fearlessness in attaining the perfection of one's own benefit and fearlessness in accomplishing the perfection of others' benefit, these two fearlessnesses correspond in order to what follows. That is, fearlessness in perfectly awakening to all dharmas and fearlessness in the exhaustion of all defilements, these two are the perfection of one's own benefit, which is the perfection of wisdom and the perfection of abandonment and realization. Among these, because all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas are completely understood, it is perfect awakening, if someone argues that he has not understood all dharmas, then this fearlessness is the perfection of wisdom. The Buddha himself has exhausted all defilements such as desire, and knows that others have exhausted their defilements, if someone says that defilements have not been exhausted.

If someone argues, 'You do not know that the defilements have been exhausted,' because he is fearless, he shows the perfection of abandonment. Because the obstructing dharmas do not change, he is fearless regarding the definite prophecy, and all perfections will be obtained, it will definitely become the path of occurrence, and he is fearless regarding becoming Suchness, therefore he shows the perfection of benefiting others. That is, he is fearless regarding abandoning unfavorable factors and showing their antidotes. If it is definitely prophesied, 'These five qualities of desire are obstacles to liberation and nirvana,' if some people argue, 'It will not become an obstacle,' he is also fearless, called the determination that will not change. Therefore, he shows fearlessness regarding abandoning unfavorable factors. All perfections are the perfection of wisdom and abandonment. If it is shown, 'Through the definite path of obtaining it, the noble path can be obtained,' that is indeed definite. If others argue, 'That path has not been obtained,' he is also fearless. The path becomes Suchness, called fearlessness regarding showing the antidote. The four individual perfect knowledges are: individual perfect knowledge of dharma, individual perfect knowledge of meaning, individual perfect knowledge of terms, and individual perfect knowledge of eloquence. Because there are four aspects that can unerringly understand the nature of various different dharmas, it is called individual perfect knowledge. Individual perfect knowledge of dharma is: showing the eighty-four thousand conducts of different intentions of sentient beings in various different ways, and its antidotes. If explaining the sutra section, it is explained in sections, explaining up to this and this general meaning. Also explaining 'showing this and this,' and explaining the words and sentences in detail. And knowing all the many names established for one dharma, and not contradicting the meaning. Individual perfect knowledge of meaning is: the meaning spoken and shown by names and sentences, the common nature is impermanence and suffering, emptiness and selflessness, the nature of ultimate truth is unborn and unceasing, and the meaning of the pure non-duality of the dharma realm. Individual perfect knowledge of terms is: the languages of various sentient beings.
