La. Understanding that pure Dharma is the antidote, abandoning discord, and generating the nature of diligence that produces the antidote, thus generating four aspects, is called right abandonment. The three actions of the body, the four of speech, and the three of mind in the desire realm, namely the ten non-virtuous actions, and the causes that generate them, such as attachment and hatred, are harmful to oneself and others, and their maturation also produces great suffering, hence they are called sins. They are contrary to virtue and are condemned by the noble ones, hence they are called non-virtuous. Accumulating habits in the mind stream through focusing on and engaging with those objects is called 'born'. Not accumulating habits is called 'unborn'. Thinking, 'May those dharmas not arise in my mind now, nor in the future.' And thinking, 'Whatever dharmas have previously arisen in my mind, I will cut off their continuity and abandon them so that they do not manifest,' is called aspiration. Virtuous dharmas are the opposite of the former, namely the ten virtuous actions and non-attachment, non-hatred, and so on. Why are these called abandonment? Because those virtuous dharmas also abandon discordant dharmas, hence they are called right abandonment. Thinking, 'May I generate and manifest dharmas that have not previously existed in my mind stream,' and thinking, 'May I increase and expand dharmas that already exist slightly in my mind stream.' Not diminishing those dharmas that already exist is called abiding. Repeatedly manifesting and practicing them, increasing their quantity more and more, is called expanding. Not going under the power of the discordant side of sin is called non-regression. Abandoning non-virtue and generating virtue, quickly bringing it to completion, is called perfection. Thus, the mind of effort that thinks, 'I will do this and that for them,' is aspiration, which is the characteristic of generating diligence. The four legs of miraculous power are: the samadhi of aspiration is the leg of miraculous power endowed with the effort of abandonment, the samadhi of mind is the leg of miraculous power endowed with the effort of abandonment, the samadhi of diligence

The miraculous foot endowed with the effort of abandoning diligence, and the miraculous foot endowed with the effort of abandoning the samadhi of contemplation. Among them, miraculous power refers to miraculous power, the ear, knowing the minds of others, knowing past lives, knowing death and birth, which are the five kinds of clairvoyance. The four feet refer to the cause of obtaining them. Combine with the usual four samadhis. One who particularly rejoices and delights in abiding in the samadhi of the mind, and attains one-pointedness of mind by always entering into samadhi, is called the samadhi of delight, which is the nature of desiring the fruits of meditation, the virtues of the heavenly realms and liberation. There are five obstacles that are unfavorable to this samadhi, namely, laziness, forgetfulness of the object, dullness and agitation, non-application of effort, and excessive application of effort. Among them, laziness is not engaging in virtue, and is an error because it is obscured at the time of first hearing and thinking. Forgetting the object is not remembering the key points of meditation, so the object of meditation suddenly disappears, and it is ignorance when engaging in meditation, so it is an error. Dullness and agitation are dullness and distraction towards the object of meditation, and it is not possible to be competent when entering meditation, so it is an error. Non-application of effort is not abandoning dullness and agitation when they arise, and not focusing on tranquility, so it is an error. Excessive application of effort is moving from that place and causing distraction when the mind is equally abiding, so it is an error. These five are to be abandoned, and there are eight methods for abandoning them, namely, love, diligence, faith, pliancy, mindfulness, awareness, effort, and equanimity. So how are these faults abandoned? The four efforts abandon laziness, how is it abandoned? It is abandoned by showing the place of diligence, the basis, the sign, and the fruit. That is, if there is love, diligence will be initiated, so love is the place of diligence. Diligence itself is the basis. The cause of generating love is faith, that is, if there is faith, love will arise, so it is the sign, and the sign and the cause are the same meaning. If diligence is initiated, then the body and mind will...
