Perfected, for example, when heavy rain falls from a great cloud, it is like crops growing even in barren land. Wisdom and compassion are like clouds, pouring the rain of Dharma onto the minds of sentient beings, which are like barren fields, causing the crops of goodness to grow and increase. Therefore, it is called the cloud of Dharma. What are the eighteen emptinesses? Emptiness cannot be divided into different categories. Although they cannot be counted, sentient beings cling to the existence of different objects. In order to show the non-existence of things, eighteen categories of emptiness are also distinguished. Among them, inner emptiness refers to the range from the eye to the mind. The six sense organs, such as the eye, and the five aggregates of the body on which they depend are called inner. Because these dharmas and individuals do not have constant and unchanging things, not even a particle, they are called inner emptiness. In this way, the absence of things in Dharma and individuals is called emptiness, which is the ultimate truth. It should be compared and understood with everything else. Outer emptiness refers to the six objects from form to Dharma, which are not grasped by consciousness, the nature of the foolish, inanimate things, the four great elements such as plants and forests, and the objects of the senses and consciousness are called outer. These also do not have things, it should be understood in this way. Inner-outer emptiness refers to the twelve sources. Some people may think that since it has been shown that there are no things in both inner and outer, then there should be things in the whole that combines both inner and outer. Even if you think so, it is only the six consciousnesses that arise from the six senses and six objects. These also do not have the meaning of existence. Emptiness of emptiness refers to the emptiness of all dharmas. Some people may think that since it has been shown that all dharmas, including outer, inner, and inner-outer, do not have things and are empty, but all dharmas are empty, and the word emptiness is named, then emptiness itself should have things. Even if you think so, there is nothing behind the thing of emptiness, so it is called emptiness of emptiness. Great emptiness refers to the ten directions,

The container world of the three realms and the sentient beings born into the five lineages in all directions, such as east, north, and west, although it is thought that these numerous and vast things have substance, in reality, they are also without substance. The emptiness of ultimate truth is the nature of not being born and not dying. The Dharmadhatu Nirvana is the ultimate truth because it does not have a permanent substance, so it is impermanent. Because it is not that there is nothing at all, it is said to be indestructible. Even if one recognizes that it has substance, it is not having, that is its meaning. The emptiness of conditioned phenomena is the three realms, namely the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm are conditioned phenomena. Or, the four characteristics of conditioned phenomena are birth, abiding, impermanence, and destruction. Even if one recognizes that these have substance, they are not having, but not having. The emptiness of unconditioned phenomena is not being born, not dying, and not changing from abiding. This is cessation by discrimination, cessation without discrimination, suchness, and space. These four dharmas are not produced by any cause or condition, so they are called unconditioned phenomena. It is not like conditioned phenomena, first there is birth, finally there is death, and in the middle of abiding there is no change of good or bad and big or small. Even if one thinks it has substance, in reality it has no substance, it is emptiness. The emptiness of transcending limits is being free from all limits, that is, transcending the limits of existence and non-existence. If one thinks it has substance, or thinks that the limits of the past, present, and future have substance, then these are without substance. The emptiness of beginningless and endless is the three times, that is, the beginning and end of samsara, or thinking that the three times of the past, future, and present have substance, in reality, because there is no substance, it is emptiness. The emptiness of non-abandonment means that all dharmas have nothing to be taken or abandoned, for example, a bottle was previously filled with water, and later the water was poured out, and the bottle became empty, similarly, there is no substantial matter in the ultimate truth.
