Focusing on the Ground: Just as any image arises and appears in a polished mirror, so too, it is the basis for the arising of the images of wisdom and all dharmas. Therefore, it is called mirror-like wisdom. Equality wisdom is when a bodhisattva on the first ground directly realizes the Tathagata-nature where all dharmas are of one taste. At that time, one does not differentiate between self and other, and the attainment of realizing equality is what is focused upon. By training further and further, the afflicted mind is transformed and becomes the cause for showing the body of colors such as crystal and vaidurya. Discriminating wisdom is the transformation of the consciousness, becoming the basis for all forms, samadhi, dhyana, and samapatti. Because unobstructed wisdom enters into all knowable things, it pours down the rain of dharma, cuts through various doubts, and by focusing on the signless, it is separated from all thoughts. Accomplishing wisdom is the transformation of the five sense consciousnesses such as the eye. In all realms of the world, according to the thoughts and inclinations of sentient beings to be tamed, it becomes the basis for accomplishing the maturation and liberation through immeasurable and countless methods. The three bodies are the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. Among them, the Dharmakaya is the nature of non-conceptual wisdom, not a form, pervading all knowable things, the greatness of the Buddha, and the source of all qualities such as samadhi, which is Suchness and the completely pure Alaya-vijnana. So, what is manifested? In the "Noble Golden Light Sutra," it is said, "Because it is free from all obscurations and perfects all virtuous dharmas, Suchness and true wisdom are called the Dharmakaya." In the commentary on the "Noble Buddha-bhumi Sutra," it is also said, "The purity of the Dharmadhatu and mirror-like wisdom are the Dharmakaya." Because the purity of the Dharmadhatu is the stainless Suchness of all dharmas, and mirror-like wisdom is the non-conceptual contemplation of Suchness.

These two are the Dharmakaya. Although they are said to be different in name, in reality, there is no difference between what is invisible and what is visible, as it is also explained in the commentary on the Madhyāntavibhāga and the commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha. That body is endowed with samādhi and so on, as explained in detail in the Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra and the Buddhabhūmi-sūtra. In the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, it says that the mirror-like wisdom is also the Sambhogakaya Buddha, which is only said to be its cause. It also says that it is the source of all wisdom, and its commentary also says that it is because it is its cause. In the Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra, it is also said that the transformation of the Ālayavijñāna is the Dharmakaya. In the Ratnamālā-sūtra, it is also said that when the Tathāgatagarbha is not manifest, it is called Ālaya, and when it is manifest, it is called Dharmakaya. In the Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra, it is also said that the nature of the Dharmakaya of the Tathāgatas is the definite arising of the ten bhūmis and the ten pāramitās, which are extremely cultivated, and the transformation is truly accomplished, which refers to the transformation of the Ālayavijñāna. In the treatise called Artha-saṃgraha, it is also said that the so-called Dharmakaya, Dharma refers to the Tathāgatagarbha, which has been the lineage from beginningless time, and is the nature of all sentient beings. Because it is obscured by non-reality, it becomes defiled. When one first makes effort and is free from delusion, then it transforms into its own nature. That which has transformed into its own nature is called the Dharmakaya. The Sambhogakaya is the body of Vairocana and others, who experience all the great Dharma enjoyments in the mandala of the Bodhisattva retinue, and is endowed with all the excellent marks and signs. In the commentary on the Buddhabhūmi-sūtra, it is said to be the Samatā-jñāna and the Pratyavekṣaṇā-jñāna. If you ask how this is established, in the Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra, it is said that the transformation of the afflicted mind is the Sambhogakaya.
