How he passed away and the history of the turning of the Dharma wheel are explained in detail in the Sutra of Extensive Play. How he entered into Nirvana is explained in the Sutra of the Great Passing into Nirvana. The term "Protector" is similar to what was shown and explained above. "I go before all" means that in the future, when all those Buddhas attain complete enlightenment, and when they turn the wheel of Dharma, etc., we will hold various offerings, in order to behold the Thus-Gone One, to prostrate, to offer and praise, to listen to the Dharma, to serve, and to revere. May I go before all of them, as quickly as thought, and with the power of miraculous abilities. The twelfth general topic is that there are ten kinds of powers: the power of miraculous abilities, the power of the vehicle, the power of qualities, the power of loving-kindness, the power of merit, the power of wisdom, the power of knowledge, the power of skillful means, the power of concentration, and the power of enlightenment. Among these, the power of miraculous abilities, etc., is from "universally swift" to "the powers of enlightenment are perfectly accomplished." First, the power of miraculous abilities is shown, which is "the powers of universally swift miraculous abilities." Universally swift means that wherever one wants to go, and however one wants to go, there is no obstruction to anything. The wealth of miraculous abilities is to walk in the sky, to abide, to walk through mountains and walls without obstruction, to transform forms and to emanate. Its power is to rely on miraculous abilities and to be able to make beings happy. The second is the power of the vehicle, which is "the powers of the vehicle of all doors." The vehicle is so called because it elevates to unsurpassed enlightenment, it is the nature of the grounds and the perfections, and the path to attain Buddhahood, it is the nature of the accumulation of merit and wisdom. Its power is not to abide in either Samsara or Nirvana, and it is able to make the deeds of the Buddha unceasing. Or, "all doors" means that the conduct is vast and has

Because (the Bodhisattva) is constantly possessed by the mind of Bodhi and possesses skillful means, all actions become beneficial to oneself and others. Or, it becomes the cause of accomplishing various good deeds. For example, when seeing someone walking on the road, one should wish that all sentient beings enter the path of the noble ones. When sitting, one should wish that all sentient beings abide in the essence of Bodhi. When closing the door, one should wish to close the door to the three lower realms and all non-virtues. When opening the door, one should wish to open the door to the heavens and liberation, and so on. And, one should pray and completely dedicate that whatever is seen and heard will turn towards the direction of goodness. Just as it is said in the Sutra of the Pure Realm of the Noble Manjushri. The third is the power of merit: 'The powers of constantly practicing merit.' Regarding this, the so-called constant merit is, first, praying to practice, then practicing and acting, and finally, by the power of accomplishing the fruit, it is always good. The so-called practice is the practice of Bodhisattvas, such as the six perfections, the four means of gathering, the four immeasurables, and so on. Its power is that it can subdue the opposing side of the perfections, such as stinginess, and has the ability to overcome others. The fourth is the power of loving-kindness: 'The powers of all-encompassing loving-kindness.' Regarding this, the so-called all-encompassing is to pervade all sentient beings in the ten directions. Loving-kindness is loving-kindness towards all sentient beings, as well as the intention to accomplish happiness, and possesses this characteristic. Its power is that it can wish not to do things that harm sentient beings in samsara and so on. The fifth is the power of merit: 'The powers of constantly virtuous merit.' The so-called constant virtue is because it has the intention to benefit all sentient beings and accomplish happiness, so everything is without fault. Merit is the same as what is said in 'Merit, merit, merit and wisdom are inexhaustible.' The sixth is the power of wisdom: without attachment, there is no attachment or obstruction to everything in the three times of past, present, and future. The power of wisdom is to be free from the obscuration of knowledge, and to be able to know all knowable things.
