of forbearance, having attained the peak of worldly dharma, thereby correctly commencing the practice of the vast path of application, it should be understood that prior to this, through the correct practice of the limbs of enlightenment, one can realize the true limit. And what is that like? After the peak of worldly dharma, there arises the uncontaminated forbearance of the knowledge of dharma in suffering, and when this arises, one is also called a noble being, and also called having attained the path of seeing. After that, there arise the fifteen moments from the knowledge of dharma in suffering, the forbearance of knowing the subsequent realization of suffering, from the knowledge of the subsequent realization of suffering to the knowledge of the subsequent realization of the path, and just these are called the completion of the path of seeing. So, by what are these completed? For example, just as a fire without a flame, as soon as it appears, a flame arises, and the flame arises and burns, thereby accomplishing the function of fire, so too, just as a flame arises and burns, thereby accomplishing the function of fire, so it is that the five faculties correctly grasped by the peak of worldly dharma of a sentient being, only at the end of them, the uncontaminated dharmas that transcend the world arise to be seen. And what are those? They are the seven limbs of enlightenment, and a sentient being who has entered the true and faultless state, truly realizes reality as it is, this is called enlightenment. What has become its limb is called the limbs of enlightenment, and through these, the fifteen moments of the path of seeing from the uncontaminated forbearance of the knowledge of dharma in suffering to the forbearance of realizing the path are completed. Among these, the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas complete it by taking the truths that are separately established as their object, and by manifesting the true limit. Bodhisattvas complete it by taking the bliss that is not separately established as their object, and by the knowledge of complete familiarity. The general rule is like that. Among these, the seven limbs of enlightenment are also understood by their object, nature, companion, practice, and the fruit of practice.

It should be contemplated. What is the object of focus? It is the true nature of the Four Noble Truths. What is its essence? It is mindfulness, discrimination of dharmas, diligence, joy, tranquility, concentration, and equanimity. Among these, mindfulness is the limb of the place of enlightenment, where a person who has entered the flawless truth realizes the truth as it is. Discrimination of dharmas is the limb of its essence. Diligence is the limb of definite emergence. The four joys are the limbs of benefit. Tranquility, concentration, and equanimity are the limbs of its basis, place, and essence, which are free from all afflictions; that is, nothing becomes an affliction, nowhere does it become an affliction, and there is no affliction, in that order. What is the friend? The mind and mental factors that are in accordance with these. What is the practice? The limb of mindfulness, perfect enlightenment, abiding in solitude, abiding in detachment from desire, abiding in cessation, completely abandoning and dedicating oneself to practice, and so on for the rest. This shows the practice of the limbs of enlightenment with the truth as the object of focus. What is the fruit of practice? It is the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing. Among these, what is the limb of mindfulness, perfect enlightenment? It is mindfulness, which is the contemplation of all that is to be known in order to know what is not known. The term "perfect" means that it is well distinguished by the uninterrupted path and the path of liberation of the path of seeing. The term "limb of enlightenment" means that for a person who has entered the absence of the truth of the path of seeing, whatever realizes the truth as it is is called enlightenment, and it is a synonym for its limb, retinue, equipment, and cause. The term "abiding in solitude" means that after the four acceptances of the knowledge of dharma have arisen, from the time of obtaining what is included in the desire realm of the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing the four truths, cessation is called solitude, and the limb of enlightenment abides in that place. Abiding in detachment from desire
