What are the classifications of direct perception and inference? Among the eight kshantis and eight jnanams of the four noble truths, the four kshantis and four jnanams that belong to the aspect of dharma-jnana are classifications of direct perception because they belong to this realm (the desire realm). The four kshantis and four jnanams that belong to the aspect of inferential jnana are classifications of inference because they belong to the upper realms (the form and formless realms). So, what are the eight kshantis and eight jnanams of the four noble truths? They are: dharma-jnana-kshanti of suffering, dharma-jnana of suffering, anvyaya-jnana-kshanti of suffering, anvyaya-jnana of suffering, dharma-jnana-kshanti of origin, dharma-jnana of origin, anvyaya-jnana-kshanti of origin, anvyaya-jnana of origin, dharma-jnana-kshanti of cessation, dharma-jnana of cessation, anvyaya-jnana-kshanti of cessation, anvyaya-jnana of cessation, dharma-jnana-kshanti of the path, dharma-jnana of the path, anvyaya-jnana-kshanti of the path, and anvyaya-jnana of the path. Among these, kshanti is the uninterrupted path, which is patient with the truth and eliminates afflictions. Jnana is the path of liberation, which ascertains the truth and directly realizes liberation. What is the order of these? Previously, during the classification, when a yogi separately recognizes the characteristics of the four noble truths with four aspects each, the recognition of the unhidden aggregates of oneself as the truth, and the recognition of the hidden aggregates of different realms through inference, are like the seeds for the later arising of dharma-jnana and anvyaya-jnana. Relying on these, when entering the truths, one will abandon the gross pride of "I am the one who cuts off," which obstructs the arising of joy in nirvana, and the wisdom that is equal and identical with the object and subject will arise through universal conduct, that is, the arising of wisdom corresponding to the small kshanti.

Becoming the warm stage means proceeding in the warm stage. Having medium patience means the peak stage. Having great patience means the patience that accords with the truth. The last of all of these, after the non-conceptual mind, the moment when one strives with oneself for the truths previously examined, is the peak of worldly dharma. After that, only supramundane minds will arise, and worldly minds will not arise. This is the boundary and culmination of worldly conditioned phenomena, therefore it is called the peak of worldly dharma. Thus, after the roots of virtue that accord with the part of ascertainment have arisen, when striving for the truths previously examined and generating the path of seeing, it should be understood that eight patiences and eight knowledges arise. Among them, the patience of knowing the dharma of suffering is the distinction of the mind that generates definitive knowledge on the ground of the dharma of the truth of suffering belonging to the desire realm, and the ground of knowing the dharma, because of patience for the truth, therefore it is called patience. Knowing the dharma of suffering is the dharma of the truth of suffering belonging to the desire realm, and what is the stainless definitive knowledge on the ground of knowing the dharma. The ground of knowing the dharma is the six grounds upon which, relying on which ground, the definitive knowledge of knowing the dharma arises, namely: the uninterrupted ground, the special samadhi, and the four dhyanas. The patience of the knowledge of subsequent realization of suffering is the patience of the knowledge of subsequent realization of the truth of suffering belonging to the form and formless realms after the knowledge of the dharma of suffering belonging to the desire realm, and the distinction of the mind that generates definitive knowledge on the ground of the knowledge of subsequent realization, and that is also called patience because of patience for the truth. The knowledge of subsequent realization of suffering is the subsequent realization of the truth of suffering belonging to the form and formless realms, and what is the stainless definitive knowledge on the ground of knowing the subsequent realization.

The so-called "ground of the ground" refers to the nine grounds upon which the definitive knowledge that understands and realizes arises, namely, the six grounds of knowledge of the Dharma and the three grounds belonging to the peak of existence among the four formless realms. Among them, when the forbearance of knowledge of the Dharma regarding suffering arises, from the moment of obtaining the afflictions belonging to the desire realm that should be abandoned by seeing suffering, they cease, and the knowledge of the Dharma regarding suffering also arises from the moment of obtaining the ground of their cessation. When the forbearance of knowledge of subsequent realization regarding suffering arises, from the moment of obtaining the afflictions belonging to the form and formless realms that should be abandoned by seeing suffering, they cease, and the knowledge of subsequent realization regarding suffering also arises from the moment of obtaining the ground of their cessation. Thus, these four minds will directly realize the truth of suffering of the three realms. Just as the truth of suffering is directly realized by the four minds, it should also be understood that the truths of origin, cessation, and path are also directly realized by four minds each. Thus, with the sixteen minds of the eight forbearances and eight knowledges, having abandoned the eighty-eight afflictions to be abandoned in the three realms, the four truths are directly realized, and the fruit of stream-entry will also be obtained. This is the establishment of the detailed distinction between direct perception and inference. What, then, is the detailed distinction between unfavorable factors and antidotal factors? The ninety-eight afflictions of the three realms that are to be abandoned by seeing the four truths and to be abandoned by cultivation are the detailed distinction of unfavorable factors. The path of seeing and the path of cultivation, as well as the path of non-interruption and the path of liberation,
