Remote and non-remote places, as well as the sphere of activity and limits of consciousness. Among these, the detailed classification of objects is that any form of matter, whatever it may be, is all composed of the four great elements and what arises from the four great elements. The detailed classification of characteristics is self-characteristic and general characteristic. The self-characteristic of form, in brief, is the joy of faith and confidence, and the form held by the mind. The general characteristic is the characteristic of being able to be manifested as form. The detailed classification of the abiding and non-abiding of consciousness is that whatever is imperishable form is called the abiding of consciousness, that is, whatever engages in the meaning of being mixed, accomplished, and unified with consciousness, and whatever becomes the cause of the arising of feelings. Whatever is the opposite of that is ungrasped, and it should be understood that consciousness does not abide there. The detailed classification of being remote from and not remote from consciousness is that whatever form is not remote from consciousness is called similar, because it engages in meaning in similarity to consciousness. Whatever form is remote from consciousness is called similar to those, because it follows in similarity to one's own continuum. The detailed classification of the sphere of activity of consciousness is that these three consciousnesses are focused on form, namely, the consciousness of form, the consciousness of obstruction, and the consciousness of variety. Form also has three characteristics: the characteristic of having appearance, the characteristic of abiding in a place, and the characteristic of increasing. It should be regarded that these also become the sphere of activity of these three consciousnesses in order. Among these, what holds blue and other colors is the consciousness of form. What holds the obstruction of movement is the consciousness of obstruction. What holds the attachment to men and women, houses and fields, and so on, is the consciousness of variety. The detailed classification of limits is, in brief, that there are two kinds of limits of form, belonging to the lower and intermediate realms, namely, the sphere of activity in the desire realm and the sphere of activity in the form realm. Then, what is the detailed classification of the aggregate of feeling?

It (referring to feeling) has five aspects: substance, characteristic, arising, proximate cause, and liberation. Among these, the classification of substance is the feeling itself, the place of feeling, and the corresponding dharmas. The classification of characteristic is self-characteristic and common characteristic. The self-characteristic is the self-characteristic of feeling, including pleasure, pain, and neither-pain-nor-pleasure. The common characteristic is: the feeling of pleasure, its nature is the suffering of change, therefore it is suffering; the feeling of pain is the suffering of suffering; the feeling of neither-pain-nor-pleasure is considered the suffering of conditioning. Whatever is felt is called suffering here. The classification of arising is that on the basis of the sixteen contacts, various feelings arise. These sixteen contacts are: the contact arising from the gathering of the six roots of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind; the contact arising from the gathering of resistance; the contact arising from the gathering of designation; the contact arising from the gathering corresponding to the feeling of pleasure; the contact arising from the gathering corresponding to the feeling of pain; the contact arising from the gathering corresponding to the feeling of neither-pain-nor-pleasure; the contact arising from the gathering following attachment; the contact arising from the gathering following anger; the contact arising from the gathering of contact; the contact arising from the gathering of ignorance; the contact arising from the gathering of neither-knowledge-nor-ignorance. These sixteen contacts, relying on the grasping of the object, therefore establish the six contacts arising from gathering and the contact arising from the gathering of resistance. Relying on the discrimination of the object, therefore the contact arising from the gathering of designation is established. Relying on the experience of the object, therefore the three contacts arising from the gathering corresponding to the feelings of pleasure, etc., are established. Relying on affliction and purification, therefore the contacts arising from the gathering following attachment, anger, ignorance, knowledge, and neither-knowledge-nor-ignorance are established. The classification of proximate cause is feeling approaching
