Not knowing. Eating and doing, all afflictions. Completely purified, thus appearing to be falsely fabricated arises, thus it is said. The body of the evil realm is the alaya-consciousness. The latent tendencies of manifest attachment are those that are associated with it. Holding onto self or what belongs to self, etc., is manifest attachment to the person. All afflictions, etc., are manifest attachment to the dharma. After that, in order to explain the benefits of understanding the meaning of the dharani, whoever knows it well as it is, they will completely abandon the body of the evil realm and obtain a body that is not the place of all afflictions, is extremely pure, without elaboration, unconditioned, and without manifest fabrication, thus it is said. Knowing well as it is, is knowing the two selflessnesses. Completely abandoning the body of the evil realm is completely abandoning the alaya-consciousness with its habitual tendencies, thereby showing the perfection of abandonment. Not being the place of all afflictions, etc., shows the perfection of the wisdom of transformation. Manjushri, know that it is the complete meaning of the dharani, which is the conclusion of the above. Thus, understanding the two selflessnesses, abandoning all afflictions, obtaining complete purification, and its result, abandonment and obtaining the perfection of wisdom, it is the meaning of all the teachings combined, so it should be combined with the meaning of the dharani. After that, the Blessed One then spoke these verses, etc., with three verses showing the summary of those things, the meaning of the words should be combined appropriately with the previous text. The meaning of the words, etc., showing the speech of the Tathagatas, etc., has been explained. After that, the meaning of the words, etc., showing the mind arising of the Tathagatas, etc., should be explained. Mind arising is the mind of the two form bodies arising from the blessing of the Dharmakaya, the previous means and wisdom meditation manifest.

This refers to the principle that arises from concentration, appearing like an illusion, naturally without any effort. Therefore, to emphasize this point, (someone) asked: World Honored One, how should one understand the characteristics of the arising of the Tathagata's mind? From this point onwards, it is to correctly and without error point out the antidote for those who are confused about the arising of the Tathagata's mind. Manjushri, the Tathagatas are not distinguished by mind, intellect, and consciousness, because the Dharmakaya is distinguished by transformation. If the Dharmakaya has no mind, intellect, and consciousness, then from where does the mind arise? This is his thought. Then, from what does the mind that emanates the emanation body arise? Therefore, (it is said in the sutra): However, the Tathagata's mind arises without any effort. It should be understood like an illusion, meaning that the way the mind arises is the same as the way the emanation body appears, which is a summary statement. The arising of the mind as taught by the Tathagatas is also from the Sutra on the Manifestation of the Birth of the Holy Tathagata: After speaking thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the glory born into the lineage of the Tathagata, said to the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra: Sons of the Conquerors, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva understand the arising of the minds of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones? After speaking thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Samantabhadra said to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the glory born into the lineage of the Tathagata: Sons of the Conquerors, the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, are neither distinguished by mind nor distinguished by consciousness. Sons of the Conquerors, however, the arising of the minds of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, should be understood with immeasurable wisdom. Sons of the Conquerors, for example, by relying on space, one can fully understand all things, but space is not the basis.

Yes. O son of the Victorious One, likewise, relying on the wisdom of the Tathagata, even if all the knowledge of the mundane and supramundane is fully understood, the wisdom of the Tathagata is without reliance. O son of the Victorious One, the first gate of entry for a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, one should observe as the thirteen gates of entry are spoken of, such as, "One should comprehend the mind of the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones," and so forth. O Bhagavan, if the Dharmakaya of the Tathagatas is devoid of all manifest fabrications, then how can mind arise without manifest fabrication? This is because the Dharmakaya is completely separated by the transformation of state, devoid of all manifest fabrications, so how does the mind of the nature of the Nirmanakaya arise from that? Previously, the practice of skillful means and wisdom is for the sake of manifest fabrication, that is to say, the essence of the practice of skillful means and wisdom, through practice, relies on strength and manifest fabrication, that is, relies on the kind called strength. For example, just as a sleepy person is without mind, and so forth, the meaning of the simile should be understood as it appears in the Sutra. What is it? Having examined, does the emanation have mind or not? This is asking whether the Nirmanakaya of the Tathagata arises from the blessings of the Dharmakaya, should the Nirmanakaya be said to have mind or not to have mind? It is neither with mind nor without mind, because the mind is without autonomy and the mind is under the control of another. The mind is without autonomy, which means that his mind, like other sentient beings, does not have autonomy over the mind, therefore it is not with mind. The mind is under the control of another, which means that he is under the control of the mind of the Tathagata, therefore it is also not without mind. The meaning of the words showing the arising of the minds of the Tathagatas, and so forth, has been explained. After that, there are the showing of the conduct of the Tathagatas, and the showing of the object, these two.
