Because there exists "the dharma of the side that establishes permanence is measurable," it is called the subject. Thus, the subject, because there exists "the dharma of the side that establishes permanence is measurable," it is reasonable to exist in what is to be inferred. The so-called existence in the dissimilar side, the similar side refers to the similar examples of the dharma of permanence, such as space. The so-called existence refers to the similar examples of the dharma of permanence, such as space, in which there exists the general characteristic of the dharma to be established—permanence, and because "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable." Therefore, it is called the similar side. Thus, on the similar side, there exists the dharma of establishment—the general characteristic of permanence, and because "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable," existence on the similar side is reasonable, and it must not exist on the dissimilar side. The so-called on the dissimilar side refers to the dissimilar examples of the dharma of permanence, such as a pot. The so-called must not exist refers to the dissimilar examples of the dharma of permanence, such as a pot, in which the dharma to be established—the general characteristic of permanence, and because "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable," if it must not exist, then at this time, on the dissimilar side, "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable" must not exist, therefore, it is also reasonable that it must not exist on the dissimilar side, because there is no uncertain reason, so it will become completely pure. If it is said that on the dissimilar side, "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable" does not necessarily not exist, because the dissimilar side, such as a pot, is also measurable. Therefore, "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable" must exist on the similar side. Thus, the similar side, such as space, and the dissimilar side, such as a pot, both have "the dharma of the side that establishes is measurable."

The so-called common uncertain is shown by the characteristic of "all appearing alike." Among them, "all" refers to all the similar and dissimilar aspects of the object to be inferred. For example, in establishing "sound is permanent," the object to be inferred is sound and permanence, its similar aspect is space and so on, and the dissimilar aspect of permanence is vase and so on, referring to all of these. "Appearing alike" means that the dharma of the establishing side is present in all the similar and dissimilar aspects of the object to be inferred. For example, in establishing "sound is permanent," the object to be inferred is sound and permanence, its similar aspect is space and so on, and the dissimilar aspect of permanence is vase and so on, in all of which the dharma of the establishing side is present, that is, "because it is measurable." Thus, "all appearing alike" should be understood as the common uncertain. The so-called "characteristic" is the characteristic of an impure inference, therefore it cannot be a valid cognition. Then, what is the uncommon uncertain? For example, in establishing "sound is impermanent," it is like a reason, that is, "sound is impermanent, because it is known." Someone might say: this is not present in the similar example of vase and so on, nor is it present in the dissimilar example of space and so on. In response to this, know that all inferences arise from a sign with three aspects, for the sake of oneself and others. Therefore, here too, it is necessary to combine the understanding that it exists in the object to be inferred, exists in the similar aspect, and does not exist in the dissimilar aspect. Here, "exists in the object to be inferred" refers to the object to be inferred, that is, sound. "Exists" refers to the fact that in the object to be inferred, sound, there is the dharma to be established, that is, impermanence, and the dharma of the establishing side, that is, "because it is known." Therefore, it is called "dharma." Thus, on the dharma, the dharma of the establishing side
