That is what is said. Through direct perception, inference, and trustworthy scripture, it is completely purified by the five characteristics. What is called direct perception refers to the respective consciousnesses mentioned earlier, namely the four types of valid cognition: sense consciousness, mental consciousness, self-awareness consciousness, and yogic consciousness, each being a separate consciousness. What is called inference refers to what was previously explained, namely the two types of inference: inference for oneself and inference for others, as explained by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, or by other speakers. What is called trustworthy scripture refers to what was previously stated, namely the two types of trustworthy scripture: that the teacher is omniscient, and that the words of the scripture he teaches are without contradiction, having been established as spoken by the omniscient teacher. The reason for establishing through reasoning is completely purified by those three valid cognitions. Those three valid cognitions are completely purified by the five characteristics, thus connecting them. The direct perception of each individual consciousness, in order to establish meaning and to understand well, by eliminating the four types of mistaken conceptions regarding the causes and conditions of direct perception, one should know without error. That itself is the reason for establishing through reasoning of direct perception, which is completely pure. Which of the five characteristics is it completely purified by? It is completely purified by the characteristic of being directly perceived. Thus, the reason for establishing through reasoning of direct perception, which is completely pure, is completely purified by the characteristic of being directly perceived. And those two should also be understood as being of one essence in terms of the basis and characteristic. The causes and conditions for explaining inference, in order to establish meaning and to understand well, namely by eliminating the four types of mistaken entries into inference, one should know without error. That itself is the reason for establishing through reasoning of inference, which is completely pure. Which of the five characteristics is it completely purified by? That which abides in the characteristic of being directly perceived, and the example of one's own kind being closely associated

Therefore, it is completely pure by its nature. Thus, the reasoning established by the validity of inference is completely pure, that is, it is completely pure by the nature of being based on the directly perceived nature and the nature of closely associating examples of its own kind. Those two, too, should be understood as being of one essence in terms of characteristics and nature. By the nature of complete purity, both the reasoning established by the validity of direct perception and the validity of inference are completely pure. Moreover, the two should be understood as being of one essence in terms of characteristics and nature. In order to accomplish the meaning spoken by the valid scripture of reliable testimony and to understand it well, the cause and condition is that the one who indicates it is omniscient, and because there is no contradiction in the words of the scripture taught by him, it is known to be without error. That itself is the completely pure reasoning established by the validity of the scripture of reliable testimony. Among those five natures, by which is it completely pure? It is completely pure by the nature of establishing the scripture as extremely pure. Thus, the completely pure reasoning established by the validity of the scripture of reliable testimony is completely pure by the nature of showing the scripture to be extremely pure, and those two, in terms of characteristics and nature, should be understood as being of one essence. Among them, what is the completely pure characteristic of those five completely pure natures? It is the three valid cognitions. Among them, the characteristic of the nature of direct perception is the completely pure reasoning established by the validity of direct perception. Among them, the characteristic of the nature of being based on the directly perceived nature and the nature of closely associating examples of its own kind is the completely pure reasoning established by the validity of inference. The characteristic of the nature of complete purity is the completely pure reasoning established by the validity of direct perception and the validity of inference, as appropriate, the characteristic of the nature of establishing the scripture as extremely pure is the completely pure reasoning established by the validity of the scripture of reliable testimony. It is so, thus.
