Therefore, in all inferable places, one should infer the meaning of oneself and others by means of the three-aspect sign. So, how does one infer the non-existence of things from non-perception, and how does one apply the three-aspect sign to what is to be inferred? The aspect of existence in what is to be inferred is, for example, in some particular location there is no pot, because it is non-perceived, and it is the object of perception. In what is to be inferred refers to the subject, in some particular location where there is no pot. The aspect of existence refers to the subject, that particular location where there is no pot, is the dharma to be established, the non-existence of things, is the dharma of the establishing side, the non-perceiving sign, is the non-perceiving object, the non-perceiving pot, is existent. Therefore, it is called the subject. Here, for that dharma, the dharma to be established, such as impermanence, and the cause and the dharma of the establishing side, the signs of nature and effect, are not present. Therefore, in the inferable dharma, in some particular location where there is no pot, the dharma of the establishing side, the non-perceiving sign, the pot is manifestly perceived, from which, the dharma to be established, the non-existence of things, is manifestly not perceived, therefore one infers the non-existence of things. Thus, as the subject, in some particular location where there is no pot, the dharma to be established, the non-existence of things, the dharma of the establishing side itself, the non-perceiving sign, the non-existence of the pot, is manifestly perceived, that itself is the relation of the nature of what is to be established and the establishing side, which does not arise without it, therefore it is called the non-perceiving reason. The aspect of existence in the similar side is the example of dharma similarity. In whatever location, as the object of perception, the pot is not perceived, there is no pot there. For example, like empty space. This is also from the occasion of indicating the nature of indicating the example of one's own kind, whatever is similar to that

In other valid cognitions, it is directly shown, but here it is shown by the subsequent following of similar examples, and the opposite of dissimilar examples is achieved incidentally, so the Bhagavan did not directly show it. If you want to understand, then in any particular direction, the vase that has become the object of cognition is present where that object is, just as grapes are placed on a silver plate, it should be said. Like this, the imperceptible sign that possesses the three aspects also abandons the three faults of the reason, namely unestablished, contradictory, and uncertain. Apply them appropriately as before. Then, how should the third aspect of the reason be applied to inferring impermanence and so on from nature? The aspect of being present in the object to be inferred is like saying, "Sound is impermanent because it is produced." The phrase "in the object to be inferred" refers to the subject, sound. The phrase "being present" refers to the fact that on the subject, sound, the property to be established, impermanence, is established by the property of the same class, the nature of the reason, "because it is produced," is the aspect of being present. Therefore, it is called the subject. Here, the subject is the property to be established, non-entity and cause, and the property of the same class to be established, imperceptible and perceptible, and the sign of the result are not present. Therefore, on the object to be inferred, the subject sound, the property of the same class to be established, the nature of the reason, "because it is produced," is manifestly visible. From that manifestly visible place, the property to be established, impermanence, is not manifestly visible, but is inferred as impermanence. Like this, on the subject sound, the property to be established, impermanence, the property of the same class to be established, the nature of the reason, "because it is produced," is the aspect of being manifestly visible, and it is also related by the characteristic of the nature of what is to be established and what establishes. Therefore, it is called the reason of nature. The aspect of being present in the similar side is a similar example. Whatever is produced is impermanent, for example, like a vase, and so on. This is also applying examples of one's own kind closely.
