Because, when arising, they do not properly attend and utter many statements that are not produced by reason, the Blessed One spoke those words in this context of showing an example in order to dispel those. Here, speaking of reason, those who speak in the manner of speculative meditators should be addressed thus: What? Is the recollection of a previous state, is it the recollection of something that is non-existent, or do you wish to recollect sentient beings and the world? If you say it is the recollection of something that is non-existent, then if it is non-existent, it should not be said to be the recollection of a previous state. If you say it is the recollection of sentient beings and the world, then it cannot be said that these fruits arise from no cause. To those who speak in the manner of relying on speculators, it should be said thus: Why do inner things enter in various ways and appear to enter suddenly, is that without cause, or do you wish it to have a cause? If you say it is without cause, then if it is without cause, it should not be said to enter in various ways and appear to enter suddenly. If you say it has a cause, then it cannot be said that these fruits arise from no cause. Thus, the recollection of something that is non-existent, as well as the recollection of sentient beings and the world, and entering without cause and entering with cause, are also unreasonable. Therefore, that statement is not produced by reason. Therefore, all phenomena arise dependent on cause and conditions, and it should be understood that after the previous continuum of cause has ceased, the subsequent fruit does not arise from no cause. The statement that the circle of a mirror and the object of an image are neither completely transformed nor completely manifest is to dispel the view that the cause itself transforms into the state of the fruit. Who holds such a view? Like this, these are some ascetics and Brahmins, and some who hold to doctrines, who say that the past and future exist. Why do those people completely show that they view and establish in that way? Like this, it is done through scripture and reasoning. Among them, the scripture of speculators should be viewed as before. The doctrine of those who hold to doctrines

The non-reasoned consideration of the sutras is: The Blessed One said that all twelve ayatanas exist by their own nature, and that past actions exist, and that past, future, and present actions and realms exist, and to have non-reasoned consideration of these. What is the reasoning? It is those logicians, those who dwell in following the investigation of individual beings arising from their own courage belonging to logic, and for this Dharma, the Sugata's scriptures are good in the beginning, middle, and end, like good gold that has been burned, cut, and polished, and the direct perception and inference, and the words of the scriptures are extremely pure, but they are like those who cover their eyes and grope, and their systems are similar. They think like this: whichever dharma abides in whatever own-nature, that is completely established by it. If the future does not exist, then it will not be able to grasp its own nature at that time. If the past does not exist, then it will lose its own nature at that time. If that happens, there will be the fault of not completely establishing its own nature. Therefore, it is not right to say that one's own nature is not completely established. They think like this, therefore they say that the past also exists, and the future also exists. Because everything in the past is the cause of what is produced now, the cause itself shifts to the position of the effect produced now. Everything that is produced now is the cause of the future, so the cause itself will shift to the position of the future effect. They observe and speak like this. Therefore, they have non-reasoned consideration of dependent origination, and speak many words that are not born of reason. In order to dispel these, the Blessed One spoke like this in this context in order to show an example. Here, in order to explain the reasoning, for the time being, for both the logicians and those who follow this Dharma, in general, it should be said like this: the nature of the past, future, and present, do they think that the nature is the same? Or do they think that the nature is different? If they think that the nature is the same, then they think that the nature is in the three times
