Through combination, from then on, the external container world is completely uninterrupted, and when entering through consciousness, relying on the perceiving consciousness, how do the six entering consciousnesses arise? Entering the cycle in the order of contacting objects, what is it that extensively shows those reasons as an antidote to ignorance? Therefore, wise ones, relying on and abiding in the perceiving consciousness, these six consciousnesses, namely eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness, etc., arise, and so on. This shows the nature, place, object, companion, function, existence, and various differences of the entering consciousnesses. Among them, the eye with consciousness refers to the similar eye, excluding those similar eyes, etc., which shows the place where eye consciousness arises together. Forms refer to invisible forms, and show visible forms, excluding obstacles, etc., and show obstacles, which shows the object of eye consciousness. Eye consciousness arises, which refers to the consciousness that distinguishes forms by relying on the eye, which shows the nature of eye consciousness. Accompanying eye consciousness, at the same time, the object of experience is the same, and the discriminating consciousness also arises, among which, accompanying means arising together with eye consciousness, which shows that eye consciousness and discriminating consciousness enter and establish with the same object. At the same time, it means arising without precedence only in one moment, which shows that eye consciousness and discriminating consciousness enter and establish because the same cause is the same. The same object of experience means arising without interruption on the same aspect of the object, which

The eye consciousness and the consciousness of mind that distinguishes, entering through the object, are the teachings of consciousness. The establishment of entering as friends and concomitants should also be understood according to their respective circumstances. That is, the five pervasive mental factors that arise together with and are concomitant with the eye consciousness are attention, contact, feeling, perception, and intention. These five pervasive factors, when the eye consciousness arises, inevitably arise simultaneously, so they are both friends and enter in a concomitant manner. How do they inevitably arise simultaneously? The Blessed One said that even if the eye faculty is not completely damaged and the form has already appeared, if the attention related to it is not closely present, the eye consciousness related to it will not arise. Conversely, if the eye faculty is not completely damaged, the form has already appeared, and the attention related to it is also closely present, then because of that, the eye consciousness related to it will arise. Eye and form are the conditions for the arising of eye consciousness, and the union of the three is contact. Those born together with contact are feeling, perception, and intention. Therefore, they inevitably arise simultaneously when the eye consciousness arises. Then, why is it determined to be only five? Because if any one of them is missing, the activity of enjoying the object cannot be completed, so it is not less. And desire and aspiration, etc., are determined by their respective objects, so they are not pervasive, so they are not more. The Blessed One also said that without attention and intention, consciousness will not arise without being accomplished and without being manifestly accumulated. Without perception and feeling, the grasping and experience of the object will disappear, and the arising of consciousness will become meaningless. Without contact, feeling, perception, and intention will also not arise because they have no basis, so it is not less than five. Desire arises only from the desired object, not from others. Aspiration is also for certain things.

It arises only from that (the five omnipresent mental factors), and not from others. Because there may be confusion in those others, they are uncertain, and therefore there will not be more than five. Therefore, it is said that omnipresence is limited to only five. These five omnipresent ones arise simultaneously with all aggregates of consciousness, virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral dharmas, so in the case of eye consciousness, it should also be understood that they are the same in terms of location, object, abiding, substance, and time. Although this is the case, those that are jointly associated with the five sense consciousnesses only become virtuous or non-virtuous continuums by the power of mind consciousness, but their nature is neutral. Because the five sense consciousnesses are engaged in discrimination, their nature is neutral, therefore, the dharmas that are jointly associated with them are also neutral. Other mental factors that arise simultaneously and are jointly associated with eye consciousness are called "one object has multiple aspects, arising one by one." What is that like? For example, the five that are definite about their respective objects, such as desire, the eleven virtuous dharmas such as faith, the six afflictions such as attachment, and many near afflictions such as anger, although there are multiple aspects, their objects are not multiple, because they are directed towards the general aspect of any one of the six objects, so they are called "having one object." Now, because the object of focus is one, they are the same in focus, but for one object of focus, there are also multiple aspects, because the aspects of the object are different, so the mental factors that grasp it are also different, therefore they are called multiple aspects. For one aspect of the object, the mental factors also only produce one entity from one category, and a second one will not arise, so it is said "arising one by one," and their reasoning will be explained in detail below. The so-called "discriminating mind consciousness also arises" refers to the object that arises simultaneously with eye consciousness, entering the nature of discriminating mind consciousness, and mind consciousness has three aspects.
