The so-called "non-dual taking" means that there is one taking. Because there is no form there, there is no form-based sense faculty with a basis, but it arises only in dependence on habit. Although the form realm is form, it is born there by transformation, so there is no form-based sense faculty there either. The two objects of the alaya-consciousness mentioned earlier, namely the inner taking-consciousness and the outer vessel-world fully matured consciousness, of which the inner taking-consciousness has two types: the form-based sense faculty with a basis and the habit of clinging to the appearance of the completely imputed nature. These two are both the cause and the object of the connection of the alaya-consciousness itself. Here, it refers to the taking of the form-based sense faculty with a basis, and the taking of the habit of elaboration of applying names to signs, names, and discriminations, these two takings are related to what was said earlier. The consciousness of the outer vessel-world that has not been completely severed is the consciousness that depends on the object of the inner taking-consciousness of the alaya-consciousness, constantly and continuously, without distinguishing the continuation of the world and the vessel-world. This is the connection of the alaya-consciousness, becoming the object of the nature of fruition, it should be understood. This object also causes the habit of taking connection in the future, and so on. Thus, relying on the two inner takings, the alaya-consciousness enters samsara, and the manner of connection is shown. This is called being skilled in the secret of the mind, which is the antidote to extreme ignorance of self-nature. The establishment of the nature of the alaya-consciousness, its existence, and the behavior of the object mentioned earlier are related to what is said here. The meaning of the words etc. that show the antidote to extreme ignorance of self-nature have been explained. After that, the meaning of the words etc. that show the antidote to extreme ignorance of the various distinctions will be explained. That is, for the five kinds of various distinctions of the alaya-consciousness, the five kinds of antidotes to extreme ignorance are shown.

Also. Being extremely ignorant of the fivefold divisions means being extremely ignorant of the division of characteristics, extremely ignorant of the division of actions, extremely ignorant of the division of entering, extremely ignorant of the division of conventional truths, and extremely ignorant of the division of ultimate truths. Among these, to counteract extreme ignorance of the division of characteristics, it is taught that: "The consciousness with vast intelligence is also called the grasping consciousness," and "It is also called the ālaya-vijñāna," and "It is also called mind," these three terms are taught. To counteract extreme ignorance of the division of actions, it is taught that: "For example, this body is grasped and taken because of that," and "For example, this body is established, and it is combined by the meaning of a single pleasure, and because it causes combination," and "For example, it is completely accumulated and nearly accumulated by forms, sounds, smells, tastes, tactile objects, and dharmas," these three terms are taught. To counteract extreme ignorance of the division of entering, it is taught that: "O you of vast intelligence, relying and abiding on that grasping consciousness," up to "Even if the conditions for the simultaneous arising of all five aggregates of consciousness are near, all five aggregates of consciousness will still arise simultaneously." To counteract extreme ignorance of the division of conventional truths, it is taught that: "O you of vast intelligence, thus, a bodhisattva, relying on understanding the system of dharma," up to "Merely by that, one does not cling to all of everything," is taught. To counteract extreme ignorance of the division of ultimate truths, it is taught that: "O you of vast intelligence, because a bodhisattva does not see the inner grasping," up to "Merely by that, one clings," is taught. Among these, first, the meaning of the words taught to counteract extreme ignorance of the division of characteristics, and so on, should be explained, that is, the ālaya-vijñāna is also called the grasping consciousness.
