Since it does not reach the nature itself, therefore, like conditioned and unconditioned, it is established as non-dual. In order to establish what was shown, that is why it was asked that way. Then, the noble *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra* also, focusing on that very aspect, showed that all dharmas are inexpressible due to being non-dual, by way of establishing the three natures. Among them, the statement, "Son of good family, what is called conditioned is a term designated by the Teacher," shows the establishment of the nature of the completely imputed. The statement, "Speech is also not something without substance," shows the establishment of the nature of the dependent other. The statement, "What is the complete perfection that is inexpressible?" shows the establishment of the nature of the thoroughly established. These three aspects, proceeding from the aspect of the two characteristics, should be understood as mainly showing the characteristic of inexpressibility. And how is that? Because it is the nature designated by the Teacher, it is without the nature of characteristics, therefore it is completely non-existent. Although the nature of the completely imputed, which is spoken in terms of various imputations, is not completely established, the nature of other things that can be spoken arises; by the very nature of no-nature, it is no-nature, and the dependent arising of the ultimate no-nature is existent. The thing of the nature of the dependent other, when the noble ones attain complete perfect enlightenment in an inexpressible way through ultimate wisdom and vision, that is the nature of the thoroughly established, which is no-nature by the very nature of ultimate no-nature. That is the suchness of all dharmas, the ultimate selflessness of dharmas, it is the characteristic of non-duality, therefore it is also the characteristic of inexpressibility. That itself possesses the characteristic of ultimate inexpressibility and the characteristic of non-duality, it should be combined in this way. Having shown the general meaning in this way, now I will explain the meaning of those words. Among them, the statement, "That is a term designated by the Teacher," is the word spoken by the Teacher in order to designate terms for sentient beings and to make them understand.

So it is. The imputed word is not the original nature, but the word of imputation, because it is suddenly fabricated, and because it is not truly existent, it is the nature of the completely imputed. That is, the characteristic of no-self-nature is itself no-self-nature, so it should be known as ultimately empty. The sutra says, 'What is the word established by the Blessed One?' It refers to the fact that the Blessed One, in this and that sutra, said and established the name 'conditioned'. Saying this is only a general statement about the Blessed One, but here it is not only the Blessed One that is taken. In order to establish terminology and understand, the words spoken by others should also be taken in the same way. 'Arising from complete imputation' means that because conceptual thought can generate all speech, and it is declared in the terminology of speech. It also has the aspect of what should be said in the knowable object, and the aspect of what should be said in the sound, because it is understood by the words spoken by others. However, the aspect of what should be said and what can be said is not abiding on things. 'It is declared in terminology' means that it is declared for the sake of establishing terminology, and terminology is what makes one's own thoughts understood. 'Declared in the terminology of various complete imputations' means declared in the terminology arising from various complete imputations. 'Because it is ultimately unaccomplished' means because it is unaccomplished by speech, and because the self-nature is unaccomplished. Therefore, because the aspect of the conditioned, which is produced by the word of the conditioned, is unaccomplished, whatever is the established word of 'conditioned', because it is not the self-nature of the conditioned thing, then it should be connected to 'unconditioned'. If so, if it is unconditioned in this way, then should it become unconditioned? No, therefore the sutra says, 'Son of good family, unconditioned' also belongs to the category of terminology. Because the aspect of unconditioned is also the aspect produced by speech, because it is ultimately unaccomplished, it is also not unconditioned. If so, then should it become another side that is neither of the two? No. Therefore, conditioned and
