There are countless kotis. That is to say, bodhisattvas who are beyond the pure superior intention ground, transform through special aspiration power, so they are called those with aspiration power. The so-called "for the sake of four aspects" refers to the arising of four causes below, the first two are adversarial, and the last two are unfavorable aspects. Like this, even if the adversarial aspect is obtained, the unfavorable aspect is not abandoned, therefore surpassing ordinary beings and shravakas, etc., it is to perfect intention and manifest the accomplishment of true aspiration. Like this, bodhisattvas are skilled at dwelling in the bliss of nirvana, which means they will not be frightened by nirvana. The bodhisattva's faith in emptiness, combined with this, will not be frightened by nirvana, therefore seeing the benefits of nirvana, as well as the faith of seeing the merits contained therein, and not abandoning faith, therefore completing the accumulation of nirvana above, so it is called skilled at dwelling in the bliss of nirvana, this is the first cause. The so-called "able to quickly obtain" is to truly know samsara as it is. The bodhisattva's faith in emptiness, combined with this, truly knows samsara as it is, therefore for all afflictions such as desire, able to especially abide in equanimity, if especially abiding in equanimity, the mind is not afflicted, therefore it will wander in samsara, wandering like this, accomplishing the Dharma of the Buddha and maturing sentient beings, and able to quickly obtain dwelling in the bliss of nirvana, this is the second cause. The so-called "also abandoning quickly obtaining and dwelling in bliss" is to strive for the benefit of nirvana. The bodhisattva's faith in emptiness, combined with this, striving for the benefit of nirvana, will not quickly completely escape from nirvana, because not escaping from nirvana, therefore accomplishing the Dharma of the Buddha and maturing sentient beings.

And also abandoning that attainment and abiding in bliss. That is the third cause. Wishing in one's mind that sentient beings experience many kinds of suffering, various and prolonged, without cause or need, is called not being disheartened by samsara. Bodhisattvas, through their devotion to emptiness, engage in practice without being disheartened by samsara, and therefore do not quickly attain complete liberation from suffering. They do not pass beyond suffering, but rather cherish the aspiration in their minds for the benefit of sentient beings. This is the fourth cause. The meaning of the words and so forth, which are skillful means for perfecting aspiration, has been explained. The detailed classification of the grounds has been explained. Previously, the summary of this ninth chapter is that it begins with being skilled in the perfection of the pāramitās, and then asking and answering. Being skilled in the perfection of the pāramitās is also of two kinds: how to perfect them, and which are perfected. Among these, how to perfect them means that through the door of perfecting realization, in order to manifest perfect conduct, the perfection of the pāramitās is shown through detailed classification, and the detailed classification of aspiration has been explained up to that point. Now, which are perfected means that the perfection of the six and ten pāramitās, such as the perfection of generosity, is shown, and the meaning of the words of the detailed classification of the pāramitās and so forth will be explained. Therefore, in order to show that, the Blessed One, how many bases of learning do Bodhisattvas have? This was asked. The detailed classification of the pāramitās is of twenty kinds, namely, being skilled in the means of fully maturing oneself and sentient beings. Blessed One, how many bases of learning do Bodhisattvas have? and so forth. Being skilled in abiding is, Blessed One, how many of those six bases are the learning of higher discipline? and so forth. Being skilled in the means of higher realms and definite goodness is, Blessed One, how many of those six bases of learning are the accumulation of merit? and so forth. Completely
