And obtaining (the position), and attaining perfect greatness, the definitive word of the ground, unsurpassed power, and the liberation of the mind abiding in the existent, non-arising, therefore, that is the contradictory aspect of the liberation of the mind of the tenth ground. As for what is called the Buddha-ground, the contradictory aspect of the Buddha-ground, such as the subtle habitual tendencies existing in the heartwood, the distinctions that have not been abandoned are: attachment to all knowable things, extremely subtle universal ignorance, and obstruction to universal ignorance. At the time of the tenth ground, such as the subtle habitual tendencies existing in the heartwood, not having been abandoned, therefore attachment to all knowable things, extremely subtle universal ignorance, and unobstructed extremely subtle universal ignorance. If these two kinds of ignorance exist, in the stage of leaping from the tenth ground to the Buddha-ground, by means of what is called the Vajra-like Samadhi, which encompasses the ultimate path of all training, one is equally placed in the uncontaminated realm of Dharma, and having thoroughly destroyed the subtle habitual tendencies of the Alaya-consciousness as if they existed in the heartwood, and having transformed the abode, therefore, the wisdom liberation of obtaining the Buddha-ground is distinguished as non-arising, therefore, that is the contradictory aspect of the wisdom liberation of the Buddha-ground. What is called the contradictory aspect of its habitual tendencies is its habitual tendencies, and if that habitual tendency exists, in the Buddha-ground it is abandoned, and the three bodies distinguished by wisdom, and the four wisdoms, and the contradictory aspect of the liberation of the mind abiding in the one hundred and forty unmixed Buddha-dharmas. What is called unsurpassed perfect enlightenment is not possessed, meaning that at the time of attainment, there is no meaning of a contradictory aspect to be abandoned. What is called wonderful, is saying that at the time of obtaining such unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, there is no contradictory aspect to be abandoned, and that is a praise of its benefits and great fruit. The distinctions of the contradictory aspects, the meaning of the words of the wise, etc., have been explained. After that, the distinctions of the antidotes, the meaning of the words of the wise, etc., will be explained. What is called the distinctions of the antidotes refers to the antidotes of the previous grounds.

Those excellent teachings, each are thoroughly distinguished by eighty-eight kinds of completely pure merits. Therefore, in order to show that teaching, (someone) asked: World Honored One, how many kinds of purity are those (teachings) established with? The answer is: with eight kinds. It means that in the state of Buddhahood, there are seven remaining apart from the purity of birth. For those seven grounds, on each ground, it also shows the establishment of thoroughly distinguishing with eighty-eight kinds of purity. The purity of superior intention refers to the fifteen kinds of intentions previously mentioned in the first ground, those (intentions) become increasingly and extremely pure from ground to ground until the state of Buddhahood. The purity of mind refers to the aspiration of the Bodhisattva, which was very definite in the first ground, arising from one's own practice, because the six distinctions that are very definite on the ground arise, for each great aspiration, it also manifests the accomplishment of ten great aspirations with hundreds of thousands of countless eons, like extremely refined pure gold, that (mind) becomes increasingly and extremely pure from ground to ground until the state of Buddhahood. The purity of great compassion refers to the nature, place, and benefits of the fruit of the great compassion of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. There are two kinds of nature, namely, understanding through reflection and understanding through practice. Among them, understanding through reflection is the intention of benefiting and the intention of happiness. Understanding through practice is that intention, approaching and accomplishing with body and speech to the best of one's ability and strength for sentient beings. There are five kinds of places, namely, sentient beings who are suffering, those who engage in misconduct, those who are negligent, those who engage in wrong conduct, and those who possess the predispositions of afflictions. The benefits of the fruit are, for sentient beings, abandoning hatred, for the affairs of sentient beings, acting without any timidity in all matters, not being weary at all of that action, abiding mostly with compassion, abiding happily in this life without fault, and becoming beneficial in the next life, the benefits of loving-kindness are, that body will not be affected by poison, will not be affected by weapons, and so on.
