The purity of the discipline of vows is twofold: one is to abandon all aspects, and the other is to constantly and continuously protect without fault. Among them, the so-called "abandoning all aspects" means abandoning all paths of the ten non-virtuous actions and properly taking up and abiding in all paths of the ten virtuous actions. The so-called "constantly and continuously protecting without fault" means that having properly taken up all paths of the ten virtuous actions in this way, there is no arising or ceasing in abiding in them. These two show being free from the defilement of bad habits. The purity of the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas is also twofold: one is to thoroughly examine the paths of action with results for those who have become unfavorable sides and antidotes, desiring to apply oneself to manifestly accomplishing the antidote; the other is to thoroughly examine the virtuous paths of action, which are increasingly purified and have results, desiring to apply oneself to manifestly accomplishing the supreme. Among them, the first is to thoroughly know how the results are properly accomplished by the causes of universally practicing actions of bad migrations and good migrations, and to properly take up the actions that are the causes of bad migrations. The second is to thoroughly know how the results are properly accomplished from cause to effect, from higher to higher, by practicing those paths of the ten virtuous actions in the manner of the three vehicles. Therefore, one should completely purify all aspects that resemble manifest accomplishment and strive for manifest accomplishment itself, and thus learn even more properly. These two show being free from the defilement of wrong efforts. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings has five aspects: namely, complete knowledge, aspiration, accomplishment, concordant cause, and the result of the concordant cause. Among them, complete knowledge has three aspects: complete knowledge of the temporary result is to completely know that the great, medium, and small paths of non-virtuous actions lead to the three lower realms in sequence. The fully ripened result is to completely know the distinctions of the result, that is, to completely know that each path of non-virtuous action can generate the result of ripening in the three lower realms.

O! Fully understanding the distinctions of the fruits of similar causes means fully understanding that even if reborn as a human a hundred times, one will experience the two fruits of similar causes. The term 'aspiration' refers to aspiring to the joy of Mahayana in order to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings and to accumulate virtuous Dharma. The term 'practice' refers to oneself abiding in the path of virtuous actions, abandoning what is contrary to it, and also establishing others in it. The term 'similar cause' refers to generating a mind of compassion for sentient beings, relying on the arising of compassion. The term 'fruit of similar cause' refers to the suffering of sentient beings being perceived through the excellence of compassion and the corresponding excellence, and to accomplishing the antidote. I have also shown that it is free from the defilement of wrong efforts. The term 'distinction of the benefits of the fruit' refers to the complete acceptance of the ripening of the distinction of the benefits of the fruit of being able to act and the distinction of the benefits of the fruit of entering, which were previously in the context of the first ground, as the distinction of the benefits of the fruit, and to knowing that aspiration is the distinction of the benefits of the fruit. These are the various distinctions that are more excellent than the previous ones. What is the complete perfection of the state of those two? It is shown that it is perfected by that limb, abandoning the opposing side, and the basis of the abiding of those two antidotes is complete. What is the abandonment of the opposing side of the third ground for the sake of attaining the fruit of meditation? Entering into the complete worldly concentration, and not being able to attain the complete hearing dharani, therefore it is not complete with that limb, thus it is shown that the opposing side of the third ground is the nature of darkness due to forgetting the Dharma of hearing, thinking, and meditation. On that second one, even though one has already dwelt in the naturally virtuous discipline on the ground of pure superior intention, one sees and obtains complete mastery over worldly meditation, liberation, concentration, and absorption.
