Thus it is. The term "knowable" refers to the objects that should be fully known. The term "as it is" refers to the very nature of existence as it is. This shows that the teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have ten meanings: the meaning of the two truths, the meaning of faults and benefits, the meaning of arising from conditions and understanding time, the meaning of impermanence, the meaning of suffering, the meaning of established truth, the meaning of unestablished truth, the meaning of collection, the meaning of differentiation, the meaning of answering, the meaning of hidden, and the meaning of revealed. Among them, the meaning of the two truths is shown by "conventional" and "ultimate," because the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, teach the Dharma based on the two truths. The meaning of faults and benefits is shown by "faults" and "merits," because when explaining the two truths, the faults of afflictions and the benefits of purification are also explained. The meaning of arising from conditions and understanding time is shown by "conditions" and "time," because the Dharma of afflictions and purification arises from conditions, not from Ishvara and others, and they can also be understood in the past, future, and present times. The meaning of impermanence is shown by "the characteristics of arising, abiding, and ceasing," because the Dharma of afflictions and purification is mostly distinguished by the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, and therefore is impermanent. The meaning of suffering is shown by "diseases, etc.," because the impermanence distinguished by the characteristics of conditioned phenomena is suffering due to the characteristics of diseases, tumors, pain, and sins. The meaning of establishment is shown by "suffering and origin, etc.," because the Dharma of afflictions and purification is taught by establishing the Four Noble Truths in the Hearer Vehicle. The meaning of unestablished truth is shown by "suchness, ultimate reality, and the realm of Dharma," because all phenomena...

And in the Mahayana, whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the Dharmadhatu, the nature of all dharmas, enters for the sake of abiding in the dharmas, this is to show this principle. The meaning of compilation and division is indicated by the term "compilation and division," because those dharmas are also shown in two ways: general compilation and detailed analysis. The meaning of answering is indicated by the terms "answering in general," "distinguishing," "answering after questioning," and "laying aside," because even when answering questions about those dharmas, it is done in these four ways. Among them, answering in general, for example, when asked "Will all sentient beings die?" the answer is "All will die," and so on. Answering by distinguishing, for example, when asked "Will all the dead be reborn?" the answer is "Those who have afflictions will be reborn, those who do not have afflictions will not be reborn," thus answering by distinguishing, and so on. Answering after questioning, for example, when asked "Are humans superior or inferior?" one asks back "In relation to what are you asking?" If one says "In relation to the lower realms," then the answer is "They are superior," if one says "In relation to the gods," then the answer is "They are inferior," and so on. Answering by laying aside, for example, when asked "Are I and the aggregates one or different?" because I do not exist at all, so thinking what is there to say about whether I and the aggregates are one or different, thinking this in one's mind, and then answering by saying nothing, and so on. The meaning of concealing and proclaiming is indicated by the term "concealing and proclaiming," because the profound meaning is concealed from sentient beings who have not become vessels, and proclaimed to sentient beings who have become vessels. Among them, in the way of having how many aspects, it refers to the way of aspects such as conventional and ultimate. To be known in the way of having what kind of nature, it refers to the nature of suffering and so on. Holding these two, refers to the things that should be completely known and...
