Yes, what is the meaning of what is grasped? It is the meaning of place and the meaning of enjoyment. They show how many knowable things there are. The meaning of grasping, etc., for those themselves, that which is preceded by the meaning of reversal is the meaning of all defilement. For those themselves, that which is preceded by the meaning of non-reversal is the meaning of purification. They show the reality of knowable things as they are. That is the nature of the teaching and the meaning of each being truly known. Differentiation is called variety. The number of aggregates is five, called the complete differentiation of the aspects of the aggregates, thus connected, it shows the nature. The number of inner sense bases is six, which is also a complete differentiation of aspects, but it does not show profundity. The number of outer sense bases is also only six, which is also a complete differentiation of aspects, and it shows enjoyment. The word "etc." shows the collection of all other complete differentiations of aspects of all defiled and purified dharmas. That which is suchness is called characteristic. The suchness of arising is called arising in samsara through the continuum of afflictions, karma, and birth, and it is not different from those aspects, so it is called suchness, which is the beginningless and endless nature of all conditioned things. The suchness of characteristics is called the absence of self-nature of persons and dharmas in the three characteristics, and it is not different from them, so it is called suchness, which is the absence of self of persons and the absence of self of dharmas in all dharmas. The suchness of consciousness-only is called suchness because it is not different from the nature of non-duality, which is the consciousness-only of all conditioned things. The suchness of abiding is called suchness because the nature of suffering abides in time, etc., and it is not different from that nature, which is the teaching of the truth of suffering. The suchness of distorted establishment is called

That which is produced by karma and afflictions, the production of birth by perverted production, is none other than that, and is called suchness, which is what is shown as the truth of the origin. That which is called pure suchness is the cessation of untrue pervasive thoughts, so purity is none other than purity itself, and is called suchness, which is what is shown as the truth of cessation. That which is called truly produced suchness is the antidote to perverted production, the production of nirvana by the noble path, so truly produced is none other than that, and is called suchness, which is what is shown as the truth of the path. Maitreya, in those phrases and so on, shows the way to gather those seven suchnesses into the distinctions of sentient beings, the distinctions of dharmas, the distinctions of enlightenment, and the distinctions of paths. All sentient beings are the distinctions of arising in samsara, suffering, and arising, so the suchness of arising, abiding, and perverted production are the same and equal. All dharmas are the distinctions of selflessness and mere consciousness, so the suchness of characteristics and mere consciousness are the same and equal. All enlightenments are the distinctions of cessation, so pure suchness is the same and equal. If all enlightenments are the same and equal, then why does the engagement in the benefit of sentient beings arise from the liberation of the Buddha with the nature of the Dharmakaya, but not from the liberation of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? They are the same in that they are liberated from the obscurations of afflictions, but they are not the same in the Dharmakaya that is liberated from the obscurations of knowledge, and that is merely the power of past aspirations, but the nature is not determined to be different, as it is said: Just as by the power of taming, like colorful patterns on cloth, so by the power of force, the wisdom patterns of liberation are clear. And so on. That which is called wisdom gathered by shamatha and vipashyana, which focuses on the dharma of attaining all mixtures, is the nature of the path that focuses on the oneness of all dharmas, all actions.
