If one must eliminate the arrogance of fully understanding the various aspects of Dharma and meaning, then what is the distinction between the nature of fully understanding the various aspects of Dharma and fully understanding the various aspects of meaning? How can one correctly understand these aspects? Considering the thoughts of those who ponder these questions, the Blessed One taught that the Bodhisattva's practice of shamatha and vipashyana is the way to correctly understand the various aspects of Dharma and correctly understand the various aspects of meaning, and so forth. Here, the Blessed One also taught the nature and distinctions of correctly understanding the various aspects of Dharma and meaning. How the Bodhisattva correctly understands these aspects was also taught. Because Dharma is the basis and meaning is what is based upon it, the basis must represent what is based upon it, so first the nature and distinctions of correctly understanding the various aspects of Dharma were taught. How the Bodhisattva correctly understands these aspects was also taught. Through the five aspects of Maitreya and so forth, the establishment of certainty was taught in order to destroy the arrogance of correctly understanding the various aspects and to prevent it from being wasted. And the nature of correctly understanding the various aspects of Dharma was also taught. This was taught through "What is name?" and so forth. And the distinctions of correctly understanding the various aspects were also taught. Through "If so" and so forth, how the Bodhisattva correctly understands these aspects was taught. Among these, the nature of correctly understanding the various aspects of Dharma is twofold: the Dharma of speech and the Dharma of realization. Because the Dharma of speech is the root of the Dharma of realization, by teaching it, even if the Dharma of realization is not taught, it should be understood incidentally. Because the Dharma of speech is the nature of name, sentence, letter, individual parts, and the whole, name, sentence, letter, individual parts, and the whole were proclaimed. What is name? What is the name of the nature and difference that is established for all defiled and purified dharmas? All defiled dharmas refer to desire and so forth. Purified dharmas refer to
