The cause of the object and the cause of the basis. Among them, the cause of the object is the cause of obtaining the contemplation of insight, that is, the object of insight, which is the object of concentration, which is the image with discrimination. The cause of the basis is the cause of the complete purification of the path of insight, that is, the complete cultivation of the mind of insight, and under it, in order to completely purify the path of insight, it is the combination with the sign of the mind of calm abiding. Here, the cause of the object should be taken. The meaning of 'contemplation' is to indicate the time of cultivating the cause of insight. The time of cultivating the mind of calm abiding, or the first time of not cultivating, is the time of cultivating insight. At this time, the cause of insight, with the four contemplations of the aspect of insight previously shown, if contemplated, then abandoning the unfavorable aspects such as sinking, and truly knowing the objects of knowledge as they are, increasing the antidotes, etc., is its concluding remark. In what way do you cultivate calm abiding with one mind? It is asking what is the time to cultivate the cause of calm abiding. When does continuous contemplation, uninterrupted mind contemplation? This is to teach in order to dispel the misunderstanding of the teachings, not to waste, and to determine the establishment. Among them, the one who continuously contemplates is saying calm abiding, with the contemplation of the ultimate path, the calm abiding, the nature of the sign and the distraction of afflictions, and the differences between the nine abidings of the mind, the six powers, and the four contemplations, continuously contemplating with one mind, is showing the nature of the path of calm abiding. The uninterrupted mind is saying the cause of calm abiding, there are two causes, the cause of the object and the cause of pacification. Among them, the cause of the object is the cause of obtaining the contemplation of calm abiding, that is, the object of calm abiding, is the object of concentration, is the image without discrimination.
