Sleeping wrapped in a towel, keeping in mind only the awareness of having mindfulness. In the last session, one should get up quickly and spend the time walking and sitting. When walking, one should walk appropriately with bodily actions that do not contradict the world or the Vinaya, with walking and returning, on a path that is neither too long nor too short. When sitting, one should sit cross-legged on a bed or small bed permitted by the Buddha, or on a grass mat, straightening the body and placing mindfulness in front. Why sit cross-legged? There are five reasons: because that behavior well restrains the body and generates great gentleness; because sitting in that behavior allows one to spend a long time and the body does not become tired; that behavior is not shared with others, such as non-Buddhists; when others see that behavior, they generate great joy; and because that behavior is praised by the Buddha and the Buddha's Shravakas. What is straightening the body? It is placing the body straight in a relaxed manner, and placing the mind straight without deceit or pretense. Placing the body straight in a relaxed manner completely eliminates the mind of dullness and sleep within and does not remain, and placing the mind straight without deceit or pretense completely eliminates the mind of external distraction and agitation and does not remain. "Placing mindfulness in front" means placing mindfulness outward and manifestly. Mindfulness with proper attention is outward from all aspects of darkness, and mindfulness focused on the characteristics of Samadhi is manifest to all objects of Samadhi. Therefore, placing mindfulness outward and manifestly is called placing mindfulness in front, and that is called perfect conduct. What is perfect solitude? There are two types: physical solitude and mental solitude. Physical solitude means not staying together with both householders and renunciates.

O! Mental solitude means abandoning afflicted and unspecified mental activities, and cultivating the meritorious and meaningful mental activities that arise from the practice of Samatha ground, or the collection of Samadhi. This is called the necessary connection with extreme solitude. After that, to show the necessary connection with single-pointedness of mind, it is said, "Having placed it correctly within." Among these, "Having placed it correctly within" is also called Samadhi, and also called virtuous single-pointedness of mind, which is the stream of mind that is in accordance with repeated recollection, and that has continuity, is without fault, and is full of joy. Among these, the "stream of mind of repeated recollection" refers to listening to and grasping any Dharma such as the Sutra Pitaka, and after receiving instructions and subsequent teachings from the Lama, manifesting the characteristics of the Samatha ground, and following and approaching that object with continuous mindfulness. The "stream of mind that focuses on what is compatible" refers to the objects of the Samatha ground, which are various, numerous, and diverse, and are compatible with the objects of knowledge, the mental image of self-awareness, and are therefore called compatible with the objects of knowledge. The mind of the Samatha ground focuses on that compatible object. The "stream of mind that has continuity" means that for that object, mindfulness is without distraction, without interruption, continuous, and always enters with reverence. The "stream of mind that has no fault" means that for that object itself, there is no affliction, and it enters the path with mindfulness that abides in touching bliss. The "stream of mind that has joy" means that for that object itself, joy manifests and it enters the path with mindfulness that abides in touching bliss. Single-pointedness of mind itself also has the aspect of Shamatha and the aspect of Vipassana. Among them, the nine stages of mind are the aspect of Shamatha.

Sa so. What are the four practices of wisdom? That is the aspect of insight, which is called necessarily uniting with one-pointedness of mind. Just that, the yogi initially seeks the object of focus, thus abiding in the cause of union and the accumulation of samadhi, completely secluded, and the order of necessarily uniting with one-pointedness of mind, first sending forth the shamatha of the path of union, after seeking the object of focus, now obtaining the image object of focus with conceptualization, and the arising of the path of insight distinguished by the attention of the path of union, when showing its power, how the well-considered Dharma, that itself is attending to, and so forth, is spoken. How the well-considered Dharma, that itself is those Dharmas that were previously well-heard in the various establishments of Dharma designations, well-held, recited and understood, well-examined by the mind, and extremely understood by seeing. Attending to, that is, previously holding the characteristics of knowable things, relying on those Dharmas that were well-held, by the power of attending to the aspiration of the ground of equipoise, obtaining the image object of focus with conceptualization, the four attentions of the aspect of insight distinguished by the attention of the path of union, the attention of diligently entering, and the attention of intermittently entering, and the attention of uninterruptedly entering, and the attention of effortlessly entering, etc., attending to as appropriate. Just that, the yogi obtains the image object of focus with conceptualization, and the arising of the path of insight distinguished by the attention of the path of union, at that time, it is focusing on the image with conceptualization. After that, that very object of focus obtained, when equally holding one-pointedly in the manner of shamatha, obtaining the object of focus of the non-conceptual image and the distinction of the path of obtaining attention, when showing the power of the arising of the shamatha path of the four sign-distracted, mind.
