Or, receiving one verse of the four-line verse from the Acharya, reciting it and abandoning seven steps, that will accumulate a great deal of merit. If one thinks of the Buddha as the Buddha, but cannot even see the Buddha, what need is there to mention the act of offering? That is impossible. Not focusing on characteristics and concepts, that is offering to the Tathagata. Friends, the body of the Tathagata is unborn and undying, so it is not easy to make offerings. O Kashyapa, in the last five hundred years of the degenerate age, those practitioners of the Bodhisattva Vehicle who are not skilled in means will be conquered by greed. They will think that they can attain accomplishments and supernatural powers by offering to cloth-stitched or wall-painted images of the Tathagata, or other images, and they will become arrogant. They will use that little bit of virtue to praise themselves and slander others, and they will also think of making a living from it. At that time, they will not cherish receiving, reciting, and meditating, except for making images of the Tathagata and making offerings. At that time, those lay people and monastics will know that they can obtain alms, medicine, and necessities by making offerings and paintings. I teach that practitioners of the Bodhisattva Vehicle should act in this way: abide in the precepts and seek to be widely learned. But at that time, they will abide in broken precepts, abandon seeking the Dharma, diligently make offerings to stupas, and think of making a living from it. Extracted from the Mahaparinirvana Sutra. Furthermore, besides King Ajatasatru, King Chandra-vimala-garbha of Vaishali, and the attendants residing inside and outside the city, all the cities of Jambudvipa, mountain villages, large areas, and the King of Kalinga, came together with as many people as the sands of six Ganges Rivers. Furthermore, at that time, besides the queen of King Ajatasatru, the queen of the King of Vaishali, and the most beautiful women in the three realms, the kings, merchants, and householders' wives of Jambudvipa,

It arrived together like the sands of the Ganges River. Among them, the so-called "self" means "Buddha." The so-called "constant" means "Dharmakaya." The so-called "bliss" means "Nirvana." The so-called "Suk" is a supreme Dharma term. Like this, among all that is constant, the sky is the most constant. The Tathagata is also constant like the sky. From countless eons, I have reached the end of the Arhat, but sitting on the grass under the Bodhi tree and showing the subjugation of the demons, sentient beings will know that this is because he must liberate the world, so he subdued the demons and became a Buddha. From countless eons, I have subdued the demons and realized the nectar. The so-called Lama Lama, just as the northern direction is the most supreme among all directions, liberation is the same, what is liberation, that is the Tathagata. The so-called unsurpassed unsurpassed, just as among all places, the northern direction is called the unsurpassed place, liberation is the same, that is the Tathagata. The so-called river refers to the ocean, among all rivers, only the ocean is a river, so the ocean belongs to the category of rivers. Those sentient beings who possess immeasurable merits will develop faith after hearing the Mahayana, and those virtuous sons who desire the true Dharma, the countless sins they have committed, will be purified by headaches, plagues, stinging pains, and slander. How can one realize the precepts and broken precepts spoken by the Blessed One in the Sutra like the Four Fruits? The nature of Dharma is the Tathagata, who is constant, stable, and true. If those who break the precepts and crave pleasure say that the Tathagata is impermanent, then those people are reliable, that is the meaning. The sutras of definitive meaning belong to the Mahayana practitioners. The practitioners of the Hearer Vehicle belong to the category of expedient meaning. The so-called wisdom.
