Dwelling in the Dharmakaya, it is called Nirvana without remainder. Relying on these three bodies, the Buddhas are said to be non-abiding Nirvana. Son of the lineage, the Nirmanakaya of the Buddha is called many because it accords with the minds of individual beings, manifesting various signs in many ways. The Sambhogakaya is called one because the minds of the retinue are the same, so its nature is one. The Dharmakaya is completely beyond various signs and is not an object to be grasped by signs, therefore it is neither one nor different. Son of the lineage, the Nirmanakaya appears in dependence on the Sambhogakaya. The Sambhogakaya appears in dependence on the Dharmakaya. The Dharmakaya is true and does not abide in anything. Son of the lineage, these three bodies are also said to be permanent, and also said to be impermanent. The eighty unmixed qualities such as powers, fearlessness, and various kinds of perfect knowledge. Just as gold, water, and space, if they are free from dirt, turbidity, and clouds, it is not that gold and so on do not exist. Similarly, the Dharmakaya is called pure because all afflictions have been exhausted, but it is not that this body has disappeared. Although it appears to have conceptualization, in its essence there is no conceptualization. Although it is said to be three, it is not three entities, because there is no increase or decrease, like dreams, illusions, and mirages, there is no object to be grasped and no grasper. Shariputra, I have said that among all gifts, the gift of Dharma is the best. The body is without movement and without action. Without essence, it arises from conditions. Not truly, it arises from complete conceptualization. It abides like a wheel of karma in an empty city. All these dharmas are empty, They arise from the conditions of ignorance. These great elements do not truly arise, They arise from the unarisen and will not arise. Because arising does not arise, Therefore I say the great elements are great. It is not existent, nor has it ever been existent, It arises from the conditions of ignorance.
