Then, changing that will turn into enjoyment, and approaching the path to Bodhi. Again, there are three: being free from the three poisons. Why? Because of giving things away, compassion, and dedicating the giving to unsurpassed Bodhi. Living at home is suffering, bondage, trivial matters, the ladder to evil destinies, the decline of the holy Dharma, being accompanied by defilements, and the source of suffering. Renunciation is the opposite of those. A Bodhisattva householder should be skilled in the conduct of practitioners. For those practitioners who are not harmonious, one should make them harmonious. When the holy Dharma declines, one should protect it even at the cost of one's life. If one sees a sick monk, one should heal him even with one's own flesh and blood. The four completely pure precepts are abiding in the four noble lineages, being delighted in learning qualities and reducing possessions, not mixing with householders and renunciates, and dwelling in solitude without pretense. Maitreya Lion said: The four are thieves of practitioners, abiding in the marks, colors, and shapes of monks, and practicing sinful Dharma, having broken vows and fallen, completely engaging in non-virtue, and claiming to have attained the fruit without having attained it for the sake of gain and respect, praising oneself and slandering others. For example, there were two people skilled in antidotal mantras and medicine, one of whom swallowed poison to benefit more people, and once rescued them by that method. Again, saying to do so, he swallowed poison, but died before he could be cured. The other said: Even if I am not many people, I will not swallow deadly poison, nor will I administer medicine, thus living comfortably until the end of my life. Similarly, in later times, some renunciates say that doing wrong is practice, and some renunciates develop two sets of vows early on, which is similar to this. For these four Bodhisattvas, one should flee a hundred yojanas, that is, flee from gain, respect, quarrels, and evil friends and noise. Wherever the vehicle of the Bodhisattva abides, even if a little hatred arises there, one should flee a hundred yojanas.

If a Maitreya Bodhisattva strikes all beings in the three thousand worlds with knives, sticks, or weapons, and if this causes another Bodhisattva to generate even a little anger, it will be ruined, and if anger arises, it will take countless eons to recover. Just as iron can only be cut by iron, and cannot be cut by clods, wood, or grass, the root of virtue of a Bodhisattva will not be exhausted by anything else unless anger arises. Therefore, when generating the initial mind of enlightenment, one should also generate the perception of the teacher. If someone dwells in a house and fills all three thousand worlds with jewels, offering them to the protector of the world, it is not as great as a wise person who feels revulsion, knows the faults, abandons the household, follows the Buddha's teachings, seeks ordination, and after seeking ordination, diligently treats desires without being attached to the comforts of home, abandoning even seven steps. The accumulation of merit of such a person cannot be matched by the former, even with a rain of jewels. When the Tathagata had various kinds of topknots, the wheel-turning king led with the wheel jewel, and the people of the four continents were able to be ordained. Rice that did not need to be plowed or sown and wish-fulfilling trees also appeared naturally, and attendants were also provided by the gods. In showing the non-duality of the nature of the Dharma realm, in the arrangement of the joyful world, people's food and drink can be obtained simply by thinking of them in their minds. The Buddhas teach the Dharma through the non-duality of the nature of the Dharma realm, but they do not teach the Dharma for the sake of going from non-birth and non-cessation to Nirvana. The Blessed Ones teach the Dharma in this way. In terms of offering lamps, with the intention of offering to the Tathagata, even a lamp, even a flash of electricity, even a single step of a staircase, can illuminate, and its ripening result cannot be conceived by Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. If one offers lamps to the stupa of the Tathagata, at the time of death, one will obtain four lights: the appearance of the sun disc in front, the appearance of the moon, the dwelling of the assembly of gods, and the sight of the Tathagata. This is extremely difficult to obtain.
