, and perfects great wisdom, therefore it is called a great Bodhisattva. Such a one who, with the words fully embraced by the Buddha, overwhelms the faults of all sentient beings is a Dharma speaker. To have expectations for all sentient beings and not to do unwholesome deeds is to be without arrogance. To abide in discipline oneself, and to teach the Dharma in order to eliminate the remorse and universal hatred of all sentient beings, is to be a speaker of discipline. From the Bodhisattva Pitaka: Self, sentient beings, and persons, etc., are not real. Because children do not have learning, their complete understanding of self, etc., is not real, it is conceptual construction. I do not boast "I am virtuous," nor do I despise others saying, "This one is immoral." Whoever despises others merely by virtue of discipline, because of pride, that one is called immoral. The Tathagata's unattached wisdom is such that even if all the trees, etc., of worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges were piled together, burned, and dissolved in the great ocean, and a particle were taken from it, he would know "This is this," yet he has no attachment. It is impossible for a stream-enterer to attain the eighth existence. It is possible to be completely liberated from samsara in that very lifetime. Although the Tathagata's body is not touched even by a Dharma robe four fingers wide, it cannot be moved even by a scattering wind. The loving-kindness of those Bodhisattvas who generate the first thought of enlightenment is focused on sentient beings. Those who have entered into practice are focused on the Dharma. Those who have attained patience are without focus. A wise Bodhisattva makes even a small gift into a great one. He increases it through the power of wisdom. He expands it through knowledge. He makes it immeasurable through dedication. Some people have great intentions for small actions. Some people have great actions for small intentions. Women have many faults, are skilled in deception, have light minds, changeable minds, unstable minds, extremely wavering and unstable minds, like the mind of a monkey, similar to a monkey, skilled in displaying illusions, therefore they are called women. A wise Bodhisattva

Generate four kinds of turning back, namely, turning back from desire, existence, unpleasant actions, and the suffering belonging to actions. A son of a noble family who has entered the Great Vehicle should generate four perceptions when seeing a woman with a beautiful face: the perception of decay, the perception of a precipice, the perception of a pus-filled hole, and the generation of the perception of pus. If, even after examining in this way, desire arises, then three perceptions should be generated: the perception of a mother for one who is unlike a mother, the perception of a sister for one who is like a sister, and the perception of a daughter for one who is like a daughter. Shariputra, there is no other who interrupts and destroys the teachings of the Tathagata other than an evil monk. A Bodhisattva householder who possesses five qualities does not please the Buddhas. He does not rely on virtuous friends, does not find leisure and opportunity, wastes virtuous deeds, and does not follow the Bodhisattvas who abide in vows, and does not increase enlightenment. The five are: being punished by the king, being feared by many people, and when many people entrust him with tasks, saying, "Please do this for us," he promises to do it but does not do it; monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, whether they live in a town, village, region, country, or palace, cause their morality to decline; parents, sons, daughters, sisters, friends, relatives, and other sentient beings hinder their practice of Dharma; when they hear the profound teachings of the Tathagata, they do not believe and speak ill of them, and they turn others away from them; relying on ministers or other powerful retinues, they are arrogant because of their wealth, and they speak harshly to many people, slander, and deceive them. Even ordained people who possess five qualities will fall immediately. The five are: practicing immoral conduct, slandering the sacred Dharma, being attached to gain and respect, being attached to verses, having a thicket of self-view, and being jealous and stingy towards others' families. The accumulation of wisdom is four kinds of giving: reverence to those who speak the Dharma, giving pens, ink, and scriptures, and cushions.
