Because of focusing solely on mind's appearances, the bodhisattvas who do not abide in the Prajnaparamita, who are without attachment to attainment, arising, action, and possession, their samadhi is like the form of a vajra. Having followed the body of the Tathagata, possessing the emanations of the same, adorned with strength and clairvoyance, compassion and skillful means, the Buddha-fields pervade all places of the heretics, being separated from mind, intellect, and consciousness. Gradually transferring abodes, one will perfectly attain the body of the Tathagata. Just as illusions manifest various things, yet they are not truly existent. Similarly, although the Tathagatas have various teachings, they are merely skillful means for instruction. What has been shown to others should not be spoken to others. Just as a doctor gives different medicines to different patients. Similarly, the Buddha also taught sentient beings about mind-only. Whatever the protectors have spoken, the realm of each individual's self-awareness, is not the realm of speculators, nor is it the realm of the Shravakas. Those with great wisdom, in order to fully understand the realm of the apprehended and the apprehender, the dualistic conceptualizations of their own mind's appearances, should be free from gatherings, disturbances, sleep, and obscurations. One should strive in the yoga of not sleeping during the evening, dawn, and midnight hours. One should be separated from the tenets, talks, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddha vehicles of evil heretics, and the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should understand and realize the nature of the conceptualizations of their own mind's appearances. Various appearances are not truly existent; mind arises from appearances, like body, enjoyment, and dwelling; the Alaya-consciousness appears to people. Those with great wisdom, in order to purify the cause of their own mind's appearances, again prayed: Bhagavan, does the cause of my own mind's appearances arise suddenly or gradually? How can it become completely pure? The Buddha taught: It is gradual, not sudden. For example, the ripening of an amra fruit, a potter making pottery, plants growing from the earth, and becoming skilled in music all occur gradually. The appearance of images in a mirror is a non-conceptual, sudden manifestation.

For example, the Tathagata also, with the continuum of sentient beings' own mind-appearances, without discrimination and with no appearance of an object of activity, spontaneously acts, thus it is taught. Great Wisdom, what is the attachment that arises from the nature of discrimination of things by the Hearers? For example, for the great elements of blue, yellow, warmth, moisture, movement, and hardness, without a maker, the appearance of self-characteristics and general characteristics, as well as reason, scriptural authority, and excellent explanations, upon seeing them, the discrimination of attachment arises to their nature. Great Wisdom, this should be understood by the Bodhisattva and reversed. Then again, Great Wisdom asked the Bhagavan: How can I and other Bodhisattvas abandon the evil views of superimposition and slander, become wise, attain unsurpassed enlightenment, and even after becoming Buddhas, be free from views of permanence, superimposition, annihilation, and slander? Without slandering the manner of your Buddhahood, please explain to me the characteristics of superimposition and slander. The Blessed One said: Superimposition and slander are not present only in the Mind-Only school. With examples such as body, enjoyment, and dwelling, who does not understand the mind? The unskilled indulge in superimposition and slander. Absence of inherent existence refers to not being liberated by inherent existence; all things are called absence of inherent existence. Great Wisdom, the nature of all things arising from dependence on causes and conditions is twofold, namely external and internal. External dependent arising is the arising of pottery from causes such as lumps of clay, handwork, wheels, strings, water, and human effort. Similarly, cloth from weaving, lacquer from tree sap, sprouts from seeds, and butter from yogurt through human effort such as churning. This is external dependent arising, the latter arising from the former. Internal dependent arising is like this: ignorance, existence, karma, and dharma, etc., these are called dependent arising. Great Wisdom!
