Moreover, it appears as pure, virtuous, and non-virtuous. Lord of Lanka, not only are there differences among those, but also on the path of yogis practicing yoga, each manifests the nature of wisdom. What difference is there between the Dharma and non-Dharma that arise from their respective discriminations? It is not that there is none, but there is. Great Wisdom, if a lump of clay is different from fine dust, then it is not made from them. If it is different by being made, then it is not made. If it is not different, then it becomes without difference. Similarly, if the consciousnesses of destruction are different from the nature of the alaya-consciousness, then they will not arise from it. If they are not different, then when the consciousnesses of destruction cease, the alaya-consciousness will also cease. One's own nature will not cease. Therefore, the self-nature of the consciousnesses does not cease, but the nature of karma ceases. If one's own nature ceases, then the alaya-consciousness will also cease. Great Wisdom, if the alaya-consciousness ceases, then this statement will be no different from the nihilistic doctrine of the heretics. The heretics' statement is like this: when the object of perception is cut off, consciousness will also be cut off. When the continuum of consciousness is cut off, the continuum of beginningless time will also be cut off. The heretics only say that the continuum arises from a cause, but they do not say that eye-consciousness arises from the aggregation of form and appearance. The cause is said to be the chief, the self, the lord, time, and subtle particles. Great Wisdom, the practice of great compassion and skillful means being spontaneously accomplished, and all sentient realms being like illusions, like reflections, equality, not created by conditions, pure of inner and outer actions, and possessing the signless state of seeing external objects as mind. Gradually, the stages of the ground follow the realm of practice of samadhi, and those of the three realms, with their minds greatly devoted to illusion, diligently cultivate, and will attain the samadhi like an illusion.
