The rebirth in the form of a body in the next world is like the reflection of an image in a mirror; and like the appearance of an embossed figure shaped by the kind of mold applied to clay, this is called the characteristic of an example of its own kind. When these three characteristics come together, it is certain, and this is the characteristic of complete certainty. As stated in the Tripitaka spoken by the Omniscient One, regarding the phenomena of the elements dissolving at the time of death of sentient beings, etc., from these signs one can infer where they will be reborn; and what kind of consciousness they will have when they are born in the womb, etc., of the next world, as well as the detailed arguments for entering the womb, etc., this is called the characteristic of a reliable scripture. Therefore, through the inference of consequence that possesses these five characteristics, the existence of the next world can be proven. Experiencing the ripening of happiness and suffering also depends on engaging in virtuous and non-virtuous actions. In this way, one can infer that the ripening of karma will not be wasted, which is the characteristic of the inference of consequence of dharma and cause. The noble ones directly perceive the ripening of karma and its results, which is called the characteristic of near perception. Those who do good deeds experience the happiness of being helped, as they have no fear of being harmed and others give them rewards, etc.; those who do evil deeds experience the suffering of being harmed, as they themselves feel fear and others inflict punishments, etc.; merchants who diligently engage in trade will have abundant goods; farmers who diligently cultivate the land will have abundant barley and rice; nomads who diligently herd livestock will become wealthy in dairy products and livestock. Like this, for anything, as long as one strives diligently, one will obtain abundant rewards, just as striving to do good deeds will result in abundant merit. If a merchant is excessively wasteful and not good at accumulating, he will decline due to goods; if a farmer is lazy and addicted to alcohol, he will decline due to barley and rice; if a nomad is not good at taking care of livestock and is too stingy with them, he will become poor due to livestock. Improper actions will also lead to poverty due to their resources, which is called the characteristic of an example of its own kind. When these three characteristics come together

For the establishment of the ground, the only certainty is the characteristic of being completely pervasive. In the teachings of the Three Baskets spoken by the Omniscient One, the reasons for experiencing the results of whatever actions are done, such as what kind of ripening fruit is experienced, are explained in detail, which is the characteristic of the teachings. Thus, the five characteristics establish that the results of actions are not wasted. Establishing that those characteristics do not contradict each other internally is the valid means of inference that is completely pure. Why is that? Because it infers what is obscured by obscuration, it is inference. It is completely pure by its characteristics, and because there is no fault of uncertainty, it is the valid means of complete purity. The eleventh chapter of the "Ka-tang" on the valid means of inference. On the valid means of trustworthy testimony. What is the valid means of trustworthy testimony? For a very obscured dharma, there is such a characteristic, and this arises from trustworthy testimony, so on the basis of what was previously led, it is completely purified by the five characteristics, such as proximate perception. What is that? The three doors of liberation, because they are the seals of the Dharma, arise from the proclaimers of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, which are the characteristics of trustworthy testimony, and the objects indicated in the testimony are also realized by the noble ones, perceived by direct perception, and known individually by oneself, which is the characteristic of proximate perception arising from the testimony, and even if ordinary individuals examine and analyze it with their intelligence, it can be considered reasonable, which is the characteristic of proximate inference, and those who accept the Hearer Vehicle are in agreement with others belonging to the Hearer Vehicle group. Those who accept the Great Vehicle are also in agreement with others belonging to the Great Vehicle group, which is the characteristic of examples of their own kind, and the certainty that those three characteristics are assembled and established is combined with the characteristic of being completely pervasive. What are those very obscured dharmas? Nirvana and Suchness, and the qualities of different Buddha-fields, and various world realms, and so on, like this, none of the six aspects from the beginning to the result can be directly perceived, they are very obscured. With the valid means of testimony possessing five characteristics, very
