It is called "determination." Among them, the detailed explanation is that from "sentient beings will fall into hell" to "will be destroyed by the laws of samsara," a total of thirty-three kinds and so on are mentioned. The direct perception that is not obscured by these obscurations is also of three types: the direct perception of complete imputation, the direct perception of dependence on others, and the direct perception of perfect accomplishment. Among them, like an illusory person and only land, etc., contemplating as practiced is the direct perception of complete imputation. Contemplating all conditioned things as impermanent, etc., as the reality of external objects, is the direct perception of dependence on others. Contemplating the ten suchnesses as the reason for the nature of reality is the direct perception of perfect accomplishment. Among them, worldly direct perception is contemplating both complete imputation and dependence on others. In dependence on others, direct perception contemplates impermanence, etc. What is that? Whatever belongs to conditioned things, contemplating all similarities and dissimilarities, in continuous arising, the latter arises and the former ceases, and contemplating the action of similarity and dissimilarity is that the latter does and the former abandons, these each with self-awareness to recognize, is the characteristic of direct perception. Contemplating all conditioned things as suffering, experiencing the harm of birth, etc., with body and mind, each with self-awareness to recognize, is the characteristic of direct perception. Contemplating all phenomena as selfless, outside the nature of the five aggregates, not contemplating the nature of self, each with self-awareness to recognize, is the characteristic of direct perception. What is contemplating complete imputation as illusion, etc.? If one sees an illusory person, contemplating the difference of the person as it is, and because of eye disease, contemplating a white conch as yellow, and a person with cataracts seeing the crescent moon as two, and because of ear disease, always hearing the sound of wind and water, these each with self-awareness to recognize, is the characteristic of direct perception. Yogis, etc., through practice, seeing skeletons, etc., and seeing only land, etc., and seeing the self as the size of a thumb, contemplating these, etc., is the direct perception of self-awareness.

It is the characteristic of focusing on samadhi, but it is not to be done as a direct perception. The chapter on the characteristics of complete purification of direct perception, which is the fourth. Regarding the characteristics of complete purification of inference. All phenomena are momentary, there is a next life, and good and non-virtuous actions are not wasted. The gross impermanence that exists in them is the focus of direct perception. And that which exists in various sentient beings is the focus of direct perception. And sentient beings experience happiness and suffering, existing in good and non-virtue, which is the focus of direct perception. For that which has not become direct perception, it should be measured by inference. These and such ways are the characteristics of the direct perception that dwells in it, and the characteristics that are spoken of are explained. That which is called 'direct perception dwelling in it' means that the nature of that which is to be inferred is hidden. Even if it is not focused on by direct perception, the sign, action, dharma, cause, or result that dwells in it, or whichever of these is followed by the mind that is focused on by direct perception, should be inferred, and its place and nature should be known. Some places and natures can be focused on by direct perception, but if the signs and so on that dwell in it are not focused on by direct perception, then by inferring from the place and nature, the signs and so on that dwell in it should be known. And what is happening now can be focused on by direct perception, and the past and future can be known. All inferences are made by inferring and knowing the things related to what is focused on by direct perception, which are not focused on by direct perception, through the mind that follows what is focused on by direct perception. For that which has not become direct perception, it should be measured by inference. 'For that which' refers to a person with obscurations. 'That which has not become direct perception' refers to what is obscured by obscurations. 'Inference' refers to wanting to understand and measure the hidden object. Therefore, the momentariness of all phenomena should be known by inference, that is, by inferring from focusing on gross impermanence. Phenomena do not perish due to opposing and combining causes, but rather a different later continuum arises and the former continuum ceases, or.
