Because it can expel and eliminate afflictions like driving away thieves, it is called the Uninterrupted Path. It is called "Vimuktamārga," where Vimukta (Tibetan: རྣམ་པར་གྲོལ་བ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: विमुक्त, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: vimukta, literal Chinese meaning: liberation) is liberation, and Mārga (Tibetan: ལམ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: मार्ग, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: mārga, literal Chinese meaning: path) is the path, meaning that in the path of meditation, with the wisdom of being free from afflictions, it is like closing the door so that thieves do not return, hence it is called the Path of Liberation. It is called "Abhisamayāntika Kuśala Mūla," which is the name for the increase and arising of worldly virtues after obtaining the Path of Seeing and realizing Suchness, hence it is called the Root of Virtue Arising After Realization. It is called "Kṣayajñāna Vika Kuśala Mūla," which is the name for the increase of worldly virtues immediately after the arising of the Exhaustion-Wisdom of an Arhat, hence it is called the Root of Virtue Obtained by Exhaustion-Wisdom. Among the sixteen moments of the mind, it is called "Duḥkhe Dharma Jñāna Kṣānti (Tibetan: དུཿཁེ་དྷརྨྨ་ཛྙཱ་ན་ཀྵཱནྟི་, Sanskrit Devanagari: दुःखेधर्मज्ञानक्षान्ति, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: duḥkhe dharma jñāna kṣānti, literal Chinese meaning: Suffering Dharma Wisdom Patience)," where Duḥkhe (Tibetan: སྡུག་བསྔལ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: दुःखे, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: duḥkhe, literal Chinese meaning: suffering) is suffering, Dharma (Tibetan: ཆོས།, Sanskrit Devanagari: धर्म, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: dharma, literal Chinese meaning: dharma) is dharma, Jñāna (Tibetan: ཤེས་པ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ज्ञान, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: jñāna, literal Chinese meaning: wisdom) is wisdom, and Kṣānti (Tibetan: བཟོད་པ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: क्षान्ति, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: kṣānti, literal Chinese meaning: patience) is patience, because with patience one realizes the Suchness of Dharma in suffering, hence it is the name of wisdom, and it is called Suffering Dharma Wisdom Patience. It is called "Duḥkhe Dharma Jñāna (Tibetan: དུཿཁེདྷརྨྨ་ཛྙཱ་ན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: दुःखेधर्मज्ञान, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: duḥkhe dharma jñāna, literal Chinese meaning: Suffering Dharma Wisdom)," because after Dharma Wisdom Patience, one realizes the Suchness of the Dharma of Suffering, hence it is called Suffering Dharma Wisdom. It is called "Duḥkhe 'nvaya Kṣānti (Tibetan: དུཿཁེ་ནྭ་ཡ་ཀྵཱནྟི་, Sanskrit Devanagari: दुःखेऽन्वयक्षान्ति, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: duḥkhe 'nvayakṣānti, literal Chinese meaning: Suffering Subsequent Wisdom Patience)," where "Duḥkhe viṣaye anupaścād ayaḥ avagama (Tibetan literal translation: दुःखेविषयेअनुपश्चाद्अयःअवगम, Sanskrit Devanagari: दुःखेविषयेअनुपश्चाद्अयःअवगम, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: duḥkhe viṣaye anupaścād ayaḥ avagama, literal Chinese meaning: In the realm of suffering, subsequent observation, this, understanding)" appears, just as with Dharma Wisdom Patience towards the suffering of the desire realm, similarly with Wisdom Patience towards the Dharma of the form and formless realms, hence it is called Suffering Subsequent Wisdom, Dharma Wisdom is focused on the desire realm, like looking at the ground, and Subsequent Wisdom is the antidote to the afflictions of the form and formless realms, like looking up at the sky, therefore Dharma Wisdom and Subsequent Wisdom, one cannot see the other's object. The remaining three from the origin of suffering onwards are also explained in this way. For the three faculties such as making the unknown known, it is called "Anājñātamājñātāsyāmīndriya (Tibetan: ཨ་ནཱ་ཛྙཱ་ཏ་མཱ་ཛྙཱ་ཏཱ་སྱ་མིནྡྲི་ཡན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अनाज्ञातमाज्ञातास्यामिन्द्रिय, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: anājñātamājñātāsyāmīndriya, literal Chinese meaning: Faculty of what is to be known)," which is the faculty of making the unknown known, namely the mind, pleasure, mental pleasure, equanimity, faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom of the Path of Seeing.

The faculties that cause those who have not previously seen the noble truths to see them are called the faculties of complete knowledge, because they have power over seeing, and therefore they cause the unlearned to know completely. It is called Ājñendriya (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), which is the faculty of complete knowledge. There is no other object to be completely known on the path of meditation. In order to abandon the remaining latent tendencies, the nine faculties, such as the mind, on the path of meditation completely know that very truth of the noble path. Because it has power over obtaining the faculty of complete knowledge, it is called the faculty of complete knowledge. It is called Ājñātīndriya (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), which is the faculty of complete knowledge. On the path of no more learning, after obtaining the fruit of the Arhat, all that is to be known is known. Because it possesses that knowledge, the nine faculties, such as the mind, that are in the mind-stream of someone cause them to abide in happiness in this life and to obtain Nirvana. Therefore, it is called the faculty of complete knowledge. In the four paths, it is called Duḥkhapratipadyānādhyābhijñā (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), which, other than the four dhyāna grounds, is like the formless samāpattis, which lack vipaśyanā and have a greater share of śamatha. And like the mind that enters the first dhyāna without interruption, which has a greater share of vipaśyanā, and śamatha and vipaśyanā are contrary, so it is difficult to abandon afflictions. It is the name for the knowledge of a person with dull faculties, and it is called the slow and difficult path of direct knowledge. It is called Duḥkhapratipatkṣiprābhijñā (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), which, other than the four dhyānas, is like the formless samāpattis, which lack vipaśyanā and have a greater share of śamatha. And like the mind that enters the first dhyāna without interruption, which has a greater share of vipaśyanā, and śamatha is small. Śamatha and vipaśyanā are contrary, so it is difficult to abandon afflictions. It is the name for the knowledge of a person with sharp faculties, and it is called the quick and difficult path of direct knowledge. It is called Sukhapratipadyānādhyābhijñā (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), which, on the ground of the four dhyānas, easily abandons and eliminates afflictions by meditating on the union of śamatha and vipaśyanā. It is the name for the knowledge of a person with dull faculties, and it is called the slow and easy path of direct knowledge. It is called Sukhapratipatkṣiprābhijñā (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), which, on the ground of the fourth dhyāna, easily abandons and eliminates afflictions by meditating on the union of śamatha and vipaśyanā.
