Furthermore, if one dwells in samsara for seven, four, or twenty-eight rebirths, they are called 'Seven-Timer.' The so-called 'Kulankula' refers to one who has entered the stream, liberated from three or fewer than four afflictions of the desire realm. Abiding in two or three rebirths and being born into good lineages of gods and humans, they are called 'Lineage-Born.' The so-called 'Sakridagamin,' where 'Krit' means 'once' and 'Agamin' means 'coming,' implies that they will not pass into nirvana in that lifetime but will be reborn once more in this world, hence called 'Once-Returner.' The so-called 'Eka-Bija' refers to the Once-Returner who has abandoned the seventh and eighth afflictions of the desire realm, attaining the fruit of nirvana through one rebirth, or being interrupted until the attainment of the Non-Returner state, hence called 'One Interruption.' The so-called 'Anagamin' refers to one who has abandoned the five lower fetters and will not be reborn in the desire realm again, hence called 'Non-Returner.' The so-called 'Antara-parinirvani' refers to the Non-Returner who has transferred from one existence and, without being born into another, manifests the fruit of Arhat in the intermediate state (bardo) and passes into nirvana, hence called 'Intermediate Nirvana.' The so-called 'Upapadya-parinirvani' refers to the Non-Returner who has entered the path and strives, transferring at the end of life and, immediately upon being born into another existence, abandons all afflictions and manifests the nirvana with remainder, hence called 'Nirvana Upon Birth.' The so-called 'Abhisamskara-parinirvani' refers to the Non-Returner who is not interrupted by samsara, and after being born into another existence, strives diligently, but the path is not yet purified, and through effort, they attain nirvana, hence called 'Nirvana with Effort.' The so-called 'Anabhisamskara-parinirvani' refers to the Non-Returner who does not strive diligently on the path, but when the mindstream matures, they attain the fruit of Arhat and pass into nirvana, hence called 'Nirvana without Effort.' The so-called 'Urdhvasrotas' refers to the Non-Returner who, wherever they are first born, does not pass into nirvana there, but is born into a higher realm of gods and then passes into nirvana, hence called 'Upward Streamer.'

It is called Body Witness. (Sanskrit: Kāyā sākṣī) It refers to the cessation attainment that is similar to Nirvana. It is called Body Witness because the non-returner manifests the cessation attainment, which is like the extinction of afflictions, through the body by ceasing the mind and mental factors. It is called Faith-Following. (Sanskrit: Śraddhānusārī) Faith means belief, and following means to go after. It is not realized through one's own knowledge, but rather, as heard from the scriptures, one follows the noble path with faith, hence it is called Faith-Following. It is called Dharma-Following. (Sanskrit: Dharmānusārī) Dharma-Following refers to having sharp faculties, not relying on others, and reasoning in accordance with the principles of Dharma, hence it is called Dharma-Following. It is called Faith-Liberated. (Sanskrit: Śraddhā adhimukta) Faith-Liberated refers to following with faith, where dull faculties cultivate the path and attain the noble fruit. Therefore, starting from the stream-enterer, it is a name for the distinction of the seven types of individuals, called Faith-Liberated. It is called Vision-Attained. (Sanskrit: Dṛṣṭi prāpta) Vision means seeing, and attained means obtaining. Sharp faculties follow the Dharma, see the path, and attain the noble fruit. Therefore, starting from the stream-enterer, it is a name for the distinction of the seven types of individuals, called Vision-Attained. It is called Timely Liberation. The Arhat who follows with faith, a dull faculty, if possessing the right time and resources, can be liberated from afflictions and attain the fruit. If not possessing them, liberation cannot be attained, hence it is called Timely Liberation. It is called Untimely Liberation. The Arhat with sharp faculties, who follows the Dharma, can abandon afflictions without relying on resources and time, hence it is called Liberation without Association with Time. It is called Wisdom-Liberated. Wisdom-Liberated means that the Arhat, without cultivating the cessation attainment, is liberated from minor defilements through wisdom, hence it is called Wisdom-Liberated. It is called Both-Ways-Liberated. Both ways means two parts, and liberation is the category of liberation. The Arhat has abandoned the obscuration of afflictions and, enters into meditative absorption.
