Even if afflicted by a wasting disease, it appears content, if it possesses these characteristics, it should also be known that it will die. Its color, strength, and voice fade, its eyes, nose, and body swell, and it cannot move its ears and tail, that too should be known that it will die. If its head and upper body can move, and when it coughs, blood comes from its mouth, its body is swollen, and its urine is red, that too is no different from a corpse. A horse excretes a large amount of urine of various colors, and it does not eat any grass, that too is no different from a corpse. If its chest is swollen and it coughs violently, if it is seen by an experienced doctor, it will be determined that it cannot survive. If a horse frequently stretches its penis, trembles, its eyes are red, its body is heavy, and its limbs are stiff, that too is said to be about to die. The earth will not be submerged in water again. When medicine is prepared, the difference between benefit and harm appears. These are the various activities of healing, which have the fruit of accomplishment. Like this, curable and incurable, knowing this, begin the various activities of healing. Even if the action of healing is done, if one does not recover and desires to die, for him, the preparation of medicine, will become an increase of merit. This characteristic of the omens of death, do not give to those without merit. Sons and disciples with merit, should be given to those who are qualified. 不显现悦意之相，却显现有过失之相， 此亦速疾将趋于死亡。 其头部上下， 显现不相同之相， 喜食少量草，喜好饮水， 此亦速疾将趋于寿命终尽。 其眼充满泪水， 如是诸根将变为错乱。 其身体极度消瘦， 显现如受干渴逼迫。 蝇虫等聚集， 恒常生起难忍之感受。 如是之马， 当知其寿命已尽。 若有以耳不能听闻， 且诸根显现衰败， 草亦少量而食者， 此亦速疾将趋于死亡。 其耳僵硬， 显现极度竖立之相， 且屡屡坐下， 记忆亦屡屡丧失。 眼亦如被翳障所覆盖， 显现如是被遮蔽之相， 显现极度松弛， 不能辨别行动， 混浊之程度显现极大， 此亦速疾将变得难以调伏。 若有极度恐惧之相， 显现扩张收缩颤动， 舌亦肿胀僵硬， 此亦速疾将趋于死亡。 虽未肿胀， 然显现如极度肿胀之相， 马于何者显现如是， 彼将不能长久存活。 若有如白莲花般， 眼显现如完全布满， 虽有翳障然仍能见， 此亦速疾将趋于死亡。 先前力大且具足， 于行为亦无有阻碍， 其后速疾身体消瘦， 此亦速疾将趋于死亡。 若有沐浴已， 最初心口干燥， 身体全部保持湿润， 彼不能存活超过半月。 亦不以饲料令马增长， 却显现损减严重， 力量与光泽皆已失去， 彼亦不能长久存活。 鸟类飞翔之时， 长久观望且欲竖立， 虽记忆衰退然如欢喜般， 屡屡发出嘶鸣。 此马寿命已尽， 不能长久存活。 孔窍之聚集皆已干燥， 智慧亦将极度衰退， 身体之血亦将损减， 总体行为亦不能粘合， 身体发出不悦意之气味。
