For example, fire connected with sunlight, when encountering a jewel called a fire crystal, is obscured by the light and spreads to the wood on which the fire crystal rests, but going there and entering into it is not visible. Similarly, a sentient being in the intermediate state (srid pa bar ma), going to the place of the womb is not clearly visible, but it does enter there. Question: How can beings born from the same nature of sentient beings appear in various forms of bodies? In order to make those who understand aware, the author said this: Because it follows the cause, the result is equal to it. Sentient beings hold various places of birth, like melting copper and other things. It means that because it follows the cause or the agent, it is called following the cause. The result does not change by abandoning the nature of the cause and not relying on it. Therefore, because it follows the cause, the result is similar to it. It is equal to that cause, that is, whatever the great elements and so on are, they are equal and similar to it. Equal and similar are synonyms. Because according to reasoning or cause, sentient beings follow the cause of the great elements and so on, therefore, from the same nature, in the manner of having various places of birth, it holds and establishes the difference of the image of the form of birth. For example, when things like copper are melted into liquid by fire, although the form of melting is the same, when poured into the image of a person etc. made of beeswax etc., it will appear and arise in the same image as the base form. Similarly, sentient beings also go and abide in various places of birth, and thus hold the form of that image. Therefore, from more semen, mostly a male will be born, from more menstrual blood, a female will be born, and if the two are equal, it will become a hermaphrodite.

When semen and blood are equal and identical in proportion, one will be born as a hermaphrodite or as a person with two sets of genitals. The reason for saying "mostly" is that it is possible for other factors to cause changes. To explain the reason why sentient beings are not formed in the womb, it is said: Semen and blood are greatly separated by wind, from which state twins are born. This means that when the semen and blood of the parents are greatly separated into many by the wind, twins will be born according to their own nature. Among them, the separation of semen and blood with more semen will result in male twins, and the separation of semen and blood with more menstrual blood will result in female twins. Similarly, the separation of semen and blood into many equal parts will result in hermaphrodite twins. In this way, sometimes one is born as a male, sometimes as a female, sometimes as a hermaphrodite, and sometimes one is born simultaneously as a female and a hermaphrodite. How are these born? They are born in different places, with ugly bodies, and from harmful impurities. This means that in places where the birthplaces are of different kinds and the bodies are ugly, they are born because the impurities of semen and blood are harmed and made bad by wind and so on. Among them, different birthplaces refer to being born in the form of snakes and cats, etc. Ugly refers to the blind, hunchbacked, lame, crippled, deaf, blind, and dwarfs, etc. The blood of women each month, arising from essence, flows for three days, from the age of twelve and up, until fifty, then it ceases. This means that the menstrual blood of women, arising from the essence of food each month, will flow from the womb for three days. The time of its appearance is initially from the age of twelve and up, and then when one reaches the age of fifty, the blood will be exhausted and disappear. When a woman is sixteen years old and a man is twenty years old, and the womb is clean, and the semen, blood, wind, and mind are pure, a strong child will be born. This means that when a woman is sixteen years old and a man is twenty years old, they unite.

Semen is transformed from blood, and similarly, the uterus is clean and without defects, and the path of childbirth is not harmed by wind, etc. Similarly, the parents' semen and blood are without defects and clean, and similarly, the wind is clean and gentle and not obstructed, and similarly, the child born from a sentient being who is clean and whose intention is without defects will be strong and have abundant diligence and will be born. Therefore, those who are not of full age, who are sick, short-lived, and have bad luck, will conceive or will not conceive. It is called: Therefore, the limit of age for both men and women is not full, that is, the child born when a woman is fifteen years old and a man is nineteen years old will be weak, short-lived, unlucky, and inauspicious, or will not conceive at all. It is called: Wind, etc., are rotten and have knots, and it is said that semen and blood with dirt and defects cannot be used as seeds. It is called: Semen and blood that have been damaged by diseases such as wind cannot be used as seeds. It will not become the cause of the fruit of conception in the womb, that is the meaning. The differences of these are explained: It is said that defects appear in their respective characteristics, blood causes rot, and mucus and wind cause it to be like a knot. Blood and bile are like pus, and wind and bile cause exhaustion. It is called: The characteristics or signs of wind, etc., are not mixed in their respective definite ways, that is, the sign of wind is rough, black, red, etc. The sign of bile is that it smells bad, yellow, white, etc. The sign of mucus is greasy, pale, sticky, etc. Therefore, from how their respective characteristics are, one can know that semen and blood are produced by defects such as wind. In addition, from the defects of blood, one can know that semen and blood are rotten like a corpse and smell bad. From the defects of mucus and wind, one can know that semen and blood are like forming knots, and semen and blood appear as broken fragments. Semen and blood transformed from a large proportion of blood and bile are like pus, and it is known that the smell is very bad. Wind and
