Furthermore, what is unsuitable should be immediately abandoned, and similarly, what is suitable should be immediately accustomed to. This is the opposite of what was previously said. Therefore, from such abandonment and reliance, faults, i.e., diseases, will arise. The harmer possesses the nature of harming. For what is extremely harmful, what is unhelpful and causes harm, the wise should not repeatedly do. This means that the harmer, i.e., wind, bile, and phlegm, and the harmed, i.e., those who possess the nature of harming the body's essence, if they are very close and cause harm to the body, then what is unhelpful, i.e., actions that are inconsistent with what follows, will cause harm and suffering. The wise and those with strong nature should not repeatedly do this. Therefore, the wise, having abandoned and eliminated faults, i.e., diseases, will not have the disease recur, and by relying on what is suitable, which gradually increases and accumulates qualities, they will not waver and will always be able to maintain a state of being without disease. Food, bedding, and the enjoyment of desires should be combined moderately and rationally. Just as one repairs a house, one should always protect the body. This means that food, bedding, and the enjoyment of desires should be combined moderately and rationally, without contradiction. Rationality refers to the rituals described in the scriptures. By combining these rituals, one should always protect the body and maintain it with these. This is like repairing and stabilizing a house. For example, just as a house relies on strong pillars for support, so too does this house of the body rely on the pillar of the root of previous karma. And the food, bedding, and enjoyment of desires, which are like nearby pillars, should be supported by rational means. Of these, food has already been discussed, and it will be discussed there and there. This means that among the foods that are like nearby pillars, food has already been discussed. One should understand the principles of various waters, etc., one should understand the principles of food, and the chapter on enjoying them at the right time has already been discussed. Similarly, below, after food, it will be discussed how to deal with drinks, plagues, etc., and how to eat in moderation, etc.

The conduct regarding illness and desire will be explained in this chapter. Pleasure and pain, fat and thin, great strength and little strength, Being able and unable to consort with women, Knowing and not knowing, living and dying, The body depends on sleep. Thus it is said. Pleasure and suffering, etc., depend on sleep. Sleeping well brings pleasure, fatness and growth, strength and the ability to consort with women, knowledge, and the increase of life. Sleeping poorly brings suffering, thinness, little strength, inability to consort with women, ignorance, and death itself. Therefore, it depends on it. Here, pleasure is being without illness. Suffering is the imbalance of bodily elements. Fatness is the increase of bodily elements, resulting in large muscles. Thinness is the depletion of bodily elements. Being able to consort with women is the ability to make her happy through sexual activity. Being unable to consort with women is becoming like a eunuch due to the depletion of semen. Knowing is possessing understanding. Not knowing is being completely ignorant. Living is possessing life. Dying is being separated from life. Untimely, excessive, and completely abstaining, Sleep diminishes pleasure and life, Like a second night of death. Thus it is said. Regarding untimely sleep, it refers to sleeping at times forbidden by the treatises. Similarly, sleeping excessively and completely abstaining from sleep will diminish and destroy pleasure and life. Here, pleasure is characterized by being without inner essence. Life is possessing life, and both of these are diminished and destroyed. For example, the night of death diminishes pleasure and life. Similarly, this is like a second unprecedented night of death, because these two, diminishing pleasure and life, are similar. Not sleeping at night is rough, Sleeping during the day becomes oily and heavy. Sitting squatting with legs extended, The eyes are rough, and there is no phlegm. Thus it is said. One who does not sleep at night becomes rough, and one who sleeps during the day becomes oily and heavy. All the senses that have not

Because I have the nature of diligence, in terms of things not being completed, if phlegm and fat, etc., are calm and the essence of naturally existing diminishes, it is not appropriate for the merit of roughness to arise, but it is falsely considered to be rough. In reality, it is not rough. For example, before falling asleep, although phlegm and fat, etc., arise from their own causes, when a person does not sleep, those phlegm and fat, etc., appear to decrease, and do not increase. Therefore, when not sleeping, it is said to be rough. When sleeping, the cessation of the function of all senses is its nature. Like things being completed, it is not that this is not related to the merit of oiliness, but it is falsely said to be oily. Because at that time nature becomes calm, phlegm and fat, etc., their own causes will clearly increase excrement and urine, etc. Because it is the opposite of the function of all senses, it does not decrease like when not sleeping. Before sleeping, the essence of phlegm and fat, etc., usually existing calmly, the part that one's own body possesses, does not appear even when slightly sleeping. Therefore, when sleeping, it is said to be oily. But in reality, it is not so, because the nature of the action here is limited to this. Squatting, being tired and slightly sleeping, that is rough, and will eliminate phlegm, because it is not very awake. It will also not generate and disturb wind. It will also not generate phlegm. When Soga wind increases and strength is taken, Rough and the night is short, Daytime sleep is good. For the sentence "When Soga wind increases and strength is taken, rough and the night is short, daytime sleep is good," it can be explained that sleeping during the day in the Soga season is beneficial. Why? Because three reasons are given: it is the season when wind increases, because the wind accumulated by Soga wants to rise in summer; it is the season of taking strength, because Soga is rough; similarly, because the night becomes short at that time, sleeping during the day is beneficial. In other places, it is said that it will generate phlegm and bile.
