and others are done to pacify evil spirits. Healing the upper limbs of the body is to treat various manifestations of diseases belonging to the area from the navel to the shoulders, that is, to pacify diseases of the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, etc. Healing injuries caused by weapons is to drain pus from various grasses, trees, stones, dust, iron, lumps, bones, hair, and nails, as well as unbearable wounds, and to remove internal stinging pains. Healing teeth is to eliminate damage caused by snakes and insects, and to pacify the harm of various poisons. Healing aging is to maintain youth, increase lifespan and wisdom, and pacify diseases. Treatment for invigorating people is done to increase sperm and generate great joy for those whose semen is reduced, weak, depleted, and dry. Thus, eight limbs are described. In order to point out the faults for which treatment is done, it is like this: wind, bile, and phlegm are the brief summary of the three faults. It is said because, first, the reason for mentioning wind must be explained, because its function is universal and rapid, and it can disturb other powerful factors, and because it has its own continuity and produces many diseases, wind is the most powerful of all. It is said because, after that, bile is mentioned for almost the same reasons. Similarly, phlegm is mentioned last because it has less power and fewer diseases. Also, the word "also" is to indicate that there are other faults, the other faults are greed, hatred, and delusion. Some say it is blood. Because it is harmful and disgusting, it is a fault. Mentioning three is a definite meaning, that is, there are only three, not a fourth, just as it is said in other scriptures, it must be determined, because it has not been seen that greed, hatred, delusion, and blood alone can cause disease. Moreover, like other faults, blood becomes a fault due to the influence of other factors.

It is not so. This is like sesame oil burning, and it is used as the name of a disease. It is said. Similarly, in the Compendium, it is also said: From the faults of the elements and other places, what disease will arise? To closely determine it, and to generate (the disease), what is said is similar to burning oil. It is said. The so-called "condensed" means to show in brief. In detail, the wind and others are endowed, gathered, exhausted, balanced, and variously increased, and similarly, by thoroughly examining in great detail, it will also become limitless. That is because of transformation and non-transformation, the body is destroyed and exists. The meaning of "that is because of transformation and non-transformation, the body is destroyed and exists" is that the wind and others, those that have transformed, that is, transformed from their own nature to other, and shaken, therefore the body will be destroyed and harmed. Not transformed, and existing in balance in its own nature as usual, therefore the body will exist and survive. This is the meaning to be expressed. Although it pervades, it exists in the lower, middle, and upper parts of the heart and navel. The meaning of "although it pervades, it exists in the lower, middle, and upper parts of the heart and navel" is that although the wind and others pervade and run throughout the entire body, it should also be known that there are definite places. That is, it exists in the lower, middle, and upper parts of the heart and navel. Its meaning is: below the heart and navel is the place of wind. Between those two is the place of bile. Above those two is the place of phlegm. Age, day and night, food eaten, and the order of their end, middle, etc. The meaning of "age, day and night, food eaten, and the order of their end, middle, etc." is that those faults will increase when they belong to the end, middle, etc. of age and so on. The so-called "order" refers to the order as it is, not the order being chaotic. Among them, age refers to the state of the body distinguished in time, such as youth and so on. Day and night refer to day and night. Eating refers to the use of food. Because it belongs to their end, middle, and beginning, it is called "end and middle belonging." This will show that at the end of age, that is, in old age, wind will increase, and in the middle, that is, in youth, bile will increase. In the beginning, that is, in childhood, phlegm will increase. Similarly, at the end of the day, wind will increase.
