DTG200 0001.The Commentary on the Essence of the Eight Limbs, Called Moonlight on the Meaning of Words.g2.0f

English

This is necessary for me, and the necessity of necessity is the fulfillment of Dharma, wealth, and desires. Next, I will explain the chapter on desiring longevity. Here, the word "next" is used in the sense of auspiciousness, mastery, and immediacy. That is, the letter "Om" (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om) and the word "next," these two first appeared when Brahma pierced his cheeks. Therefore, these two are auspicious. The reason for saying auspiciousness, etc., is that they allow those who recite them to enter without obstacles and bring about the accomplishment of the desired goal. Mastery refers to mastering the treatises that are beneficial for those who desire longevity. That is, starting from here, until the entire treatise is complete, all of these are beneficial for those who desire longevity. Immediately after, it is also said that immediately after prostrating to the deities, it is beneficial for those who desire longevity. The reason for saying "next" is that it is the cause. Because it is seen that there are many treatises full of contradictions, doubts, meaninglessness, repetitions, and other faults, or that worldly people belonging to beings are oppressed by the power of disease, therefore, I will explain what is beneficial for life and what is beneficial for beings without disease. That is its meaning. The reason why "life" is called life is that it is flowing.

This medical text also possesses the validity of scriptural authority. It is also the son of Ever-knowing, etc., and because it is also a great sage, therefore, the great sages such as the son of Ever-knowing, etc., this prevents self-fabrication, because he said that I am not able to speak anything arbitrarily. The word "thus" means "as it is said." The word "said" means speaking and showing in the past. If one desires a long life, one should accomplish Dharma, wealth, and happiness. The teachings of the treatise on the science of life should be treated with utmost respect. As it is said, a person who desires life should know the happiness of Dharma and wealth from oneself or others, and treat the teachings of the treatise on the science of life with utmost respect. Among them, life is living, the body and senses, sentient beings, and the self, the four aggregates are living, constantly moving and following, it is said to be a synonym for life. As it is said, life is the science of life because it can be known. How is it known? It is known from what is beneficial and what is not, happiness and suffering, validity and invalidity. Moreover, as the scripture says: Benefit and non-benefit, happiness and suffering, that is life, benefit and non-benefit, where it is said to be valid, it is said to be the treatise on the science of life. As it is said. Or, that by which one has life, that is the science of life, one obtains the knowledge of its existence, and will also distinguish. The teachings of that are the treatises that show the science of life, thus, one should know the treatises that show the science of life with utmost respect and effort, that is the meaning. Why? Because life is what accomplishes Dharma, etc. Among them, Dharma is Dharma because it is what holds and sustains the people of the world. Because it should be taken and diligently pursued in meaning, it is wealth. Happiness is being free from suffering. The accomplishment of these is becoming the means of accomplishment. Now, in order to show that the treatises are transmitted from one to another, Brahma remembered the science of life, and told it to the Lord of Beings, he told it to Tārakā, he told it to Indra, he told it to the sages such as Ever-knowing.

As he enters like fire, etc., they each made a tantra, as it is said. Among them, Brahma is the great grandfather, who remembers the Veda of life, because the Veda of life is constant. The one called the Lord of Beings is called Swift, and he was told and made to hold it. As he with Tāka, it is said that the Lord of Beings told and made the two sons of Tāka, the physician of the gods, to hold it. As he with Indra, it is said that the two sons of Tāka made Indra, the thousand-eyed one, to hold it. As he with Constant Knowledge, etc., to the hermits, it is said that Indra made the sons of Constant Knowledge and other hermits to hold it, and the son of Constant Knowledge was born as Nabso. The meaning of the word 'etc.' is that it also includes Tanglapa, Two-legged Walker, Muchu, and the son of Dropkyong. As he enters like fire, etc., it is said that those hermits, such as the son of Constant Knowledge, told the hermits Fire Entry, etc., and the meaning of the word 'etc.' is that it is said and made to hold between the hermit Sheep, Chinese Turmeric, Arrow's Victory, and Salt Hand. They each made a tantra, which means that they, such as Fire Entry, etc., also made each one separately. Tantra means that they made and widely spread the medical scriptures. Moreover, this treatise holds and collects the meaning of the Veda of life, so it is called Tantra. If it is said that since the treatises made by the great hermits already exist, why is this tantra made? Is it just creating useless effort? Therefore, from those that are very scattered, it holds and collects the meaning of the Veda, so it is called Tantra. Briefly, it is said that the one who mostly collects is neither very brief nor extensive, but makes the essence of the eight branches, which means that from the treatises that are very scattered and not gathered, and whose meanings shift with high and low words, very much, which means mostly collected, I have made the essence of the eight branches, but it is neither very brief nor very extensive.
