One should not rely on the three categories of aggregates, which are the creation of emptiness. One should not rely on or abide in the effort of actions. In any case, whatever actions do not contradict the Dharma, practitioners should rely on them, because this itself does not contradict the three categories of aggregates. Moreover, when relying on the Dharma at all times and places, one must ensure that it does not conflict with wealth and enjoyment. When relying on wealth, one should also not contradict the Dharma. When relying on enjoyment, one should also not conflict with wealth and the Dharma. "On the path of all dharmas, one should follow the Middle Way." Regarding this statement, all dharmas, that is, all things, should be accomplished as "the path." For the place of actions, it should be the Middle Way, neither inferior nor excessively high, which is what should be followed and practiced. This is its teaching. "Hair, nails, and facial hair should not be kept long, the nine orifices and feet should be without impurities." Regarding this statement, hair, nails, and facial hair should not be allowed to grow long, they should be trimmed. The so-called "facial hair" refers to the hair around the navel. The nine orifices and feet, that is, the nine orifices and feet, should be kept free of impurities. The nine orifices here refer to the nine orifices that are places of impurity, namely the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, excretory orifice, and urinary orifice, etc. The feet refer to the two feet, and their impurities should be removed and purified. "Delight in bathing and applying fragrant scents, have good manners and be without arrogance." Regarding this statement, delighting in bathing refers to bathing frequently. The so-called "applying fragrant scents" refers to using fragrant substances such as camphor to anoint and perfume the body. Having good manners refers to adorning oneself with fragrance, cosmetics, garlands, clothing, and ornaments. Being without arrogance refers to not being arrogant or excessively ostentatious, but rather being humble and radiant. "The secret mantra accomplished with precious jewels, always keep great medicine by your side." Regarding this statement, precious jewels refer to agate, ruby, beryl, gold salebram, and diamond, etc. The accomplished secret mantra refers to the secret mantra that is renowned for being perfectly accomplished and whose power appears beforehand, that is, the secret mantra that is widely known in the secular world and in treatises. Great medicine refers to lagshmi, guha, nutmeg, and sweet flag, etc.

Mustard and so on. Those jewels, mantras, and medicines should be worn on the head, neck, and shoulders. One with a white umbrella and shoes should walk looking as far as the yoke. This says that the white umbrella is the umbrella that shields from the heat. Shoes protect the feet, and a person should have both of those, and walk looking as far as the yoke, looking forward that far. Therefore, the harm of snakes, livestock, cows, horses, and rough stones, etc., will not come near. At night for important matters, carry a staff, wrap your head, and have a companion. This says that one should not walk at night. If it is very important and one is walking for the sake of the teachings, and one must walk because of traveling at night, then it is shown that one should walk with a staff, a head covering, and a companion. From the force of the meaning, it is shown that one must walk at night, but one should not walk for small matters that are not things that must be done. Because there is a staff, one is a staff-bearer, to frighten snakes and so on. The staff should be made to have a sound, to support oneself from falling, and to ward off enemies. Covering the head is like wrapping a turban, to protect against birds, butterflies, insects, and so on that fall from above. Having a companion is to protect against the fear of thieves, yakshas, rakshasas, flesh-eaters, and so on. Stupas, offerings, victory banners, and inauspicious things, shadows, ashes, chaff, and impure things, fragments, torma, and places where one has bathed should not be stepped over. This says that stupas are the stupas themselves, and especially the characteristics of fields with places where deities reside, those that are widely known in the world. Offerings are lamas and so on. Victory banners are flags with spears or dharma wheels hanging inside temples and shrines. Inauspicious things are inauspicious objects, and one should not step over the shadows of those, nor trample them. Ashes are heavy things and so on that come from burning. Chaff is the husk of rice.
