The measure of what is held is: the kneecap of the right knee, the range encircled by the tips of all the fingers of the hand; similarly, the duration of time equal to the time of opening and closing the eyes, that length of time is said by the wise to be the measure of a number. Applying mixed sesame oil to the crown of the head eliminates white hair, red-yellow hair, hair loss, planetary influences, and wind disorders of the head, clarifies the senses, and increases the strength of voice, cheeks, and head. It means that pouring and applying sesame oil to the crown of the head eliminates white hair, restores red-yellow hair, prevents hair loss, eliminates planetary influences and split ends, and eliminates and pacifies wind disorders of the head. Similarly, it clarifies the eyes and other senses, enabling them to grasp their own objects, and similarly, it increases and enhances the strength of voice, cheeks, and head. The "Moonlight of Meaning," an explanation of the essence of the Eight Limbs, was composed by the teacher who delights in the moon. This is the commentary on the twenty-second chapter. Then, the chapter on the ritual of instilling eye drops and applying medicine to the eyes will be explained. It means that the explanation of this work is as follows: Because the sesame oil applied to the crown of the head, which was just mentioned, clarifies the senses, and among all the senses, the most important is the eye, therefore, in order to protect it, this chapter is written after that. Instilling a certain eye medicine causes all eye diseases to flow out, so it is called applying eye medicine to the eyes, and after that is this ritual. This is the way of acting, and that ritual will be explained. For all eye diseases, first instilling medicine drops eliminates stinging, itching, dryness, and tearing, and is beneficial for eye heat and red eyes. It means that for all eye diseases, first instilling eye medicine, etc., and then tearing and washing is beneficial. In particular, it has an eliminating effect on pain caused by protruding eyeballs, etc., as well as stinging, etc. Among them, stinging refers to constant stinging and pain. Pain refers to various forms.

causing pain. Itching is when most of the eye area itches. Rubbing is when the eyes and lips touch each other, it feels like the eyes are rubbing and it hurts. Tearing is when tears constantly flow. Fever is when it feels hot. Red eyes are when the eyes appear red. For these conditions, it is beneficial to instill eyewash. "For wind, warmth is beneficial, for phlegm, mild and soft is beneficial. For blood and bile, coolness is praised." This means that the eye drops are warm for wind diseases, and it is beneficial to make them warm in nature. For phlegm diseases, mild and soft is beneficial, and slightly warm is beneficial. For eye diseases caused by blood and bile, cool eye drops are beneficial. "Sit in a place without wind, open your eyes with your left hand, and apply medicine to the cotton cloth inside the fish bladder, and instill the drops." This means that a person should sit in a place without wind, and the doctor should open his eyes well with his left hand, and apply the medicine to the cotton cloth inside the fish bladder with his right hand, hang it slightly, and instill the drops, from a height of two fingers wide, instill ten or twelve drops from the corner of the eye. If done in other ways, it may cause diseases such as red eyes. "Then wipe with a soft and clean cloth. For those with wind and phlegm, apply a gentle compress with other soft cloths soaked in warm water." This means that after instilling into the eyes, wipe and clean the eyes with a soft and comfortable cloth. After that, gently apply a compress to the eyes with a soft cloth soaked in warm water. This also applies to people with wind and phlegm diseases. For people with bile or blood diseases, such compresses should not be applied, and for these two conditions, just clean and wipe, do not compress. If the instilled eye medicine is too hot and irritating, it will cause pain, red eyes, and dullness. If it is too cold, it will cause stinging, inability to close the eyes, and pain. If it is too strong, it will cause redness and rubbing of the eyes and lips, and the eyes will become rough and difficult to open. If it is too little, it will cause the disease to spread. If it is not completely instilled, it will cause aggravation.
