Therefore, it is said here, what are the four things that are said to be oil, binding, etc.? This is its function. Like augmentation and diminution, these four, such as oil, are not different in meaning. Those four functions of arising are also in the manner of augmentation and diminution, so they do not go beyond those two. Because all arising things are of the nature of augmentation and diminution, and likewise have the two aspects of fire and moon, they do not go beyond increase or growth and decrease. Among them, oil and what should be bound, because of the nature of the moon, belong to the category of augmentation. Roughness and what should be cauterized are of the nature of fire, so they belong to diminution. Therefore, all arising things such as wheat have the manner of augmentation and diminution. Now, the individual differences between the two are stated: Among them, taming and pacifying, both are diminution. The term "among them" is to be taken as definite. If the names of decay and augmentation and decay and diminution are called in another way, that is, increase and decrease, then which of these is decrease or diminution? That is of two kinds, namely taming and pacifying, and there is no diminution greater than that. Or in this way, the two are diminution, otherwise, in the way described below, it will become twelve kinds. Therefore, in order to show its own characteristics and likewise its differences, it is said: Whatever expels disease outwards is taming, and it is of five kinds: purgation, emetic medicine, washing the body of disease, washing the head of disease, bloodletting. The medicine that expels internal diseases outwards is called taming. That taming also has five kinds of differences, such as purgation. Among them, purgation is, in the way of explanation, to boil medicine and ghee etc. and take it. Emetic medicine draws diseases upwards. Washing the body of disease expels diseases downwards. Washing the head of disease is one part of the body, namely the head's individual disease, which is drawn upwards by administering medicine through the nose.

Cleansing the head of diseases is 'nga ba'. Bloodletting is expelling things from the gates of blood vessels, etc. That is the characteristic of pacification, and similarly, in order to explain the distinctions, these are spoken. Which medicine does not subdue diseases, does not disturb the balanced state, and makes the unbalanced balanced, is pacification; those are seven types. Ripening and heat-generating, hunger and thirst, exertion and injury, sun and cold hail. Called, which medicine does not subdue diseases such as wind, does not expel things from the diseased area, and similarly exists in a balanced state, evenly in its own measure, is not disturbed, does not move from its own position, and similarly is unbalanced, that is, exceeds its own measure, or exists in a deficient state, those that make it balanced, that make it possess its own measure, that medicine is called pacification. Pacification has seven types of distinctions such as ripening. Among them, ripening is because it makes it ripen, so it is ripening, it completes the digestive action of the stomach's heat, what medicine makes the ability of ripening and digestion even more increased, or what action is ripening, for example, Sophora flavescens, etc., or fasting. Heat-generating, this word is to make it generate heat, for example, medicines of three hot natures and five hot natures, which medicine makes the heat of fire very increased, thereby making the ability to digest food even closer to increasing, that is called heat-generating. Moreover, it is said in 'Legs thos': The unripened makes it ripen, the balanced existence is pacification, heat-generating makes the heat of fire very increased, sometimes ripening, sometimes not. That's what it says. Others are easy to understand. Now explain the action of increasing or making it bigger. Increasing is subduing wind and, bile together with wind. Called, this "is" word is the meaning of special, increasing is to be specially distinguished from fasting in this way. Milk etc. that make it increase are also mixed and excreted, but mixing is the nature of diminishing, therefore from that, only wind, or grows together with bile. For example, from fasting, Terminalia chebula etc.
