If that disease matures, it matures after a long time. A small amount of thin serum flows out, and suddenly one feels that the ears are empty, and the inside of the ears sometimes shrinks and sometimes expands. The symptoms of ear disease caused by bile are pain and numbness, wanting to be cold, swelling, fever, rapid maturation and suppuration, and even when fully mature, a yellow serum of its own color flows out, and wherever the serum touches, it matures and suppurates. The signs of ear disease caused by phlegm are rapid maturation, heaviness in the cheeks and throat, unremitting stinging pain, itching, swelling, wanting warmth, and after maturation, a white and thick liquid flows out. The symptoms of ear disease caused by sudden impact and other causes of blood disorder are that the ears are very stinging and painful. The blood disorder also mixes with bile and causes pain, and it also has some characteristics of bile, or has most of the characteristics of bile. The symptoms of ear disease caused by a mixture are stinging, swelling, fever, unbearable pain, wanting cold and wanting heat alternately, the ears cannot hear sounds, and after the disease matures, white, black, red, and thick pus and serum flow out alternately. There are pulse channels inside the ear that can hear sounds. When wind enters there, various sounds are heard repeatedly for no reason, which is called windy disease with sound. The sages said this. Ear disease caused by a mixture of phlegm and wind, if not treated and abandoned, can only be heard if one speaks loudly at first, and then gradually becomes deaf. Wind dries the phlegm and blocks the ear canal, causing pain, which is called "Pratihara" ear disease. If phlegm clings to the ear, the ear itches and swells, which is called swelling and itchy ear disease. Bile discolors the phlegm, and whether there is disease or not, a large amount of thick pus flows out, which is called suppurative ear disease.

It should be like this. Due to faults such as wind, the flesh and blood of the ear rot. From this, worms are born and eat it, causing pain without pus. This is called ear disease with worms. Ear disease is itchy and scaly, causing sores and turning into boils. It should be understood as the characteristics of internal boils mentioned above. Similarly, if ear swelling is not treated and left unattended, rashes and pimples will appear as the source of the disease. It is also very painful, full of pus, and will become deaf. In the mother's womb, the wind shrinks and curls the ear, which is called ear disease atrophy. Or in the mother's womb, one or more very hard lumps of flesh grow on the ear, about the size of long pepper. This is called ear disease like long pepper. Ear disease caused by aggregation appears in a color consistent with the source of the disease itself, is very painful, stiff, and swollen.

The earlobe pierced and stretched excessively will cause diseases of accumulation, namely itching, heat, swelling, and rapid maturation, which is called the disease of the earlobe that causes suffering. If the disease of the earlobe is not treated and is neglected, then small pimples caused by phlegm and blood will appear, and these pimples will become rough, itchy, and accompanied by disease, and small creatures will grow, oozing pus and being corrosive. This is called the ear disease where the earlobe is eaten by small creatures. Thus, among the twenty-five types of ear diseases mentioned, the ear diseases caused by accumulation, such as those resembling long pepper, resembling vidari, and those that are contracted and shrunken, these four are incurable. Ear diseases resembling the strings of a lute can be cured if they are not severe. The rest should be treated with medicine as appropriate. The chapter on the diagnosis and examination of ear diseases, the seventeenth chapter, is complete. Then, the chapter on how to treat ear diseases will be explained. Among them, for ear diseases caused by wind, first, broth should be instilled, and then at night, ghee mixed with medicines that pacify wind should be instilled. After that, fumigation should be performed, and after fumigation, any of the milk of aśvattha (Sanskrit: अश्वत्थ, aśvattha, meaning: Bodhi tree), bilva (Sanskrit: बिल्व, bilva, meaning: wood apple), arka (Sanskrit: अर्क, arka, meaning: swallowwort), and eraṇḍa (Sanskrit: एरंड, eraṇḍa, meaning: castor oil plant) can be used, or radish and guggulu (Sanskrit: गुग्गुलु, guggulu, meaning: myrrh resin) seeds and rock salt can be soaked together, and then cooked as prescribed in a sealed earthenware pot. After cooking, take it out and squeeze it, and fill the ear with warm juice. Alternatively, boil buttermilk and other categories of medicines that pacify wind, sour buttermilk, alkaline water, coarse flour, and other sour substances, as well as the urine of cows and buffaloes, and the four great oils together. Instilling the remaining ghee into the ear can also relieve extremely unbearable ear pain. Alternatively, wrap the bark of any of the five great roots of trees with coarse cloth, smear it with sesame oil, and drip the burning oil drops into the fire, which will immediately relieve ear pain. Alternatively, making any of the soup tree and rue in the same way as above will also have the same benefits. All methods of treating wind diseases and diseases caused by wind are also applicable here.
