Thus, if the purgative medicine's formulation is too strong, and the remnants of the medicine remain in the body, they should be expelled again with an emetic. If the emetic medicine's formulation is too strong, causing excessive vomiting, administer a mild purgative. Furthermore, for a formulation that is too strong, pouring cold water on the body, immersing the body in cold water, and consuming and drinking very cold foods, etc., will stop (the adverse effects). White sandalwood, calamus, cardamom, and the powder of these, as well as sheep's blood, and a gruel made by adding rice flour to meat broth, when drunk, will stop diarrhea and is the best. For an overly strong laxative formulation, pour cold water on the body, and feed a gruel made from the juice of grapes, etc., mixed with butter, honey, and sugar.
